The Church celebrates September 8 as Our Lady’s birthday but She told the visionaries that August 5 is the actual date. Our Lady appeared dressed in golden splendor and was indescribable. She gives a special gift on Her birthday. This is the first time that She gives the SPECIAL BLESSING and She gives it several times later, generally on Feast Days. However, this blessing was not completely understood until August 15, 1988 when Marija spoke of it to a Caritas group in Medjugorje. Our Lady said to Ivan:


"Praised be Jesus Christ. My children, I’m happy to be with you this evening and to see you so numerous. I bless you with a Special Blessing. Make progress in holiness through the messages, I will help you. Give your utmost and we will go together, sensitive to the sweetness of life, light, and joy. Go in the peace of God, my children, my little children."
