Our Lady, Medjugorje Caritas of Birmingham and A Friend saved my soul the other night. And many nights and days after.

I am 67, retired Army veteran, back and forth inconsistent Field Angel. I didn’t really understand or accept all A Friend was saying. After two failed cervical spine fusions and a heart attack in a short timeframe, I got vaccines and boosters in fear of Covid believing the world system lies. June 6, 2022 I collapsed with bad Covid. Near death, in coma/intubated and at first given up for dead by doctors, then finally awakened in ICU isolation and attacked relentlessly by evil spirits seeking the ruin of my soul. My priest on retreat, me unable to talk, think, memory gone, crying all night begging to remember just the “St. Michael the Archangel…” prayer to no avail. My lifeline to Heaven was A Friend’s messages I listened to non-stop as I held onto my rosary with all it’s prayers a blank, and prayed, prayed, prayed in baby talk to my Mama, Our Lady.

A Friend saved my soul that first night awake, and many more days and nights after beset by demons. Literally. My priest came at once when back in town from a retreat and gave me Anointing of the Sick and I was discharged from ICU the very next day. Just six days in rehab learning to walk, talk, think and breathe further nourished by A Friend’s truth I no longer doubted. Then I was home. No walker, no oxygen. A long, slow painful way to recovery now but I can drive to daily Mass again. And fifty years of Bible and all my prayers are back though a lot else of my memory is gone.

I called Caritas of Medjugorje right after Mass this morning, shared my story and my gratitude beyond words can express, got my Field Angel monthly auto donation resumed, and asked thru my tears to be forgiven for my unfaithfulness to A Friend and everyone at Caritas of Birmingham.

    My family. My soul-savers.
