Our Founder, a Friend of Medjugorje, was prompted and inspired by Our Lady 29 years ago to establish a special reverent gathering to come before the Christmas manger.  Since 1992, pilgrims have traveled, just as the Three Kings did in the days of Christ’s birth and made their way from every state of our nation, to be in union before the manger in the Field of Apparitions.  The manger scene, lit up with 500 candles, sets a beautiful stage for a special Rosary depicting the Joyful Mysteries with music that stirs the soul.  The feeling is as close as one can be to what was experienced in Bethlehem 2,000 years ago.

It was Our Lady who inspired, through our founder, the creation of Christmas in the Field.  What She wanted precisely has been repeated 29 times over the past 29 years.  How did our founder understand to do this in that Our Lady has never said the word manger in Her messages over all these years?  He sees in Our Lady’s messages what is not apparent because he is in tune with Our Lady’s desires.  This year, the 29^th anniversary of Caritas of Birmingham’s Annual Five Days of Prayer—Reconciling of Ourselves, Our Families and Our Nation Back to God, December 8-12^th, landed in the 33^rd year anniversary of Our Lady’s first apparitions at Caritas.  On Friday, December 10^th, the eve of Christmas in the Field, Our Lady appeared with three angels to Medjugorje visionary, Ivan, who was in Boston.  Our Lady relayed to him the following message:

December 10, 2021

“During this time of grace, I am calling you to pray.  May prayer be a joy.  Pray before a ‘manger’ these days in the family.  Pray more and I will ask my Son for grace.”

Moments before beginning the Christmas in the Field celebration, our founder read aloud Our Lady’s above message to all the pilgrims gathered around the manger and said what a grace it is to be able to live a message from Our Lady even before knowing it exists.  It is a union of thought that we so often see a Friend of Medjugorje reach with Our Lady in living out Her desires before She even expresses them.
