It all began with a Crucifix.
Thousands of you know the story.
The Crucifix which Fr. Slavko gave to a Friend of Medjugorje from the apparition room in Medjugorje, that by a miraculous set of circumstances became the central point for Our Lady’s apparitions when She appeared in the home of a Friend of Medjugorje and his wife.
The Crucifix in the Bedroom of Apparitions represented the conversion of the individual and the family.
To alleviate the sufferings of thousands, a Friend of Medjugorje would himself have to suffer.
A heavy price was paid by a Friend of Medjugorje and his family for the conversions of those who have been converted through this Crucifix.
Over one-hundred thousand people have come and prayed in front of this Crucifix in the Bedroom of Apparitions, at their home.
It grew from the Crucifix, to a Field.
What was nothing but a cow pasture became the destination for thousands to pray for our Nation.
For 25 years, thousands who came to pray in the Field looked afar towards the mountain behind the Tree and Statue of Our Lady, and saw a bare mountain.
In 2013, the bare mountain was crowned with a Cross.
When a Friend of Medjugorje built the Cross on the mountain here at Caritas, Alabama, he etched the words in the foundation, “For the Soul of America.”
This is the consecration of this Cross.
When a Friend of Medjugorje asked Medjugorje visionary Marija, to ask Our Lady to bless the Cross in 2013, Our Lady responded by saying that She would appear there the next day – and Our Lady appeared at the Cross and blessed it.
On September 13, 2014, when Marija was again here at the home of a Friend of Medjugorje and his wife, She asked Our Lady about the apparition for the next day, which was the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross.
Marija asked if Our Lady would appear on “Cross Mountain” – referring to the Cross on mountain at Caritas.
Our Lady responded by smiling and said, “3 o’clock.”
Our Lady chose the time of Jesus’ death to appear on the feast of His Cross, September 14.
There is power to the Cross.
This is not symbolic.
A Friend of Medjugorje has lived this Cross.
A price has been paid for the grace of conversion.
This is a consecrated and blessed “place.”

I was overwhelmed by the presence of grace at the cross. Walking the way of the cross with the other pilgrims was a privilege. Watching some of them struggle in pain to climb up the mountain, and then even more so coming down, opened my heart to their suffering – and then to think of what Jesus suffered for me. And how much our Dear Lord and Our Lady suffer now when I do not remember the sacrifice He made – the price He paid for my salvation. I did not want to leave the Cross. I could’ve stayed there all night in the Peace of knowing how much Jesus loves me.

I had been working on forgiveness for a couple of years.
After climbing the mountain with the rock, I experienced a relief as though something was lifted. I can’t explain it… while on top of the cross.

Was it Fra Slavko Soldo that gave you the crucifux? I would love to come to Cross mountain if I can get some friends together to make the pilgrimage.
Ankica, you and your friends are certainly welcome to come and climb the Cross. As for the Crucifix, it was Fr. Slavko Barbaric.
