For Families…

May 19, 2017 A.D.

Our Lady appeared to Ivan tonight at the Blue Cross, Friday, May 19, 2017. Pilgrims began to gather at the Blue Cross at around 6:00 p.m. Those who came early to pray before the apparition were blessed to witness a beautiful sunset. As the sun slowly disappeared, the stars began to take its place. By the time the Rosary began, the sky was filled with bright, shining stars. Ivan and his prayer group led the pilgrims in prayer, praying the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary. Our Lady then appeared to Ivan at around 10:00 p.m. and the apparition lasted several minutes. The following is Ivan’s description of the apparition:

I would briefly like to describe tonight’s meeting together with Our Lady. Also today Our Lady came to us joyful and happy and at the beginning, She greeted all of us with Her motherly greeting, ‘
Praised be Jesus my dear children.’ Then, for a while, She prayed over all of us here, with Her arms extended, and She prayed especially over those of you who are sick and present here. Then Our Lady said:

“Dear children! Also today I desire to especially call you, through this time, to pray for families. Pray, dear children, for families, for unity in families, for peace in families. I am interceding for all of you with my Son and I am praying for all of you. You must be persevering in prayer. Thank you, dear children, for also today having responded to my call.”

Then Our Lady blessed all of us with Her motherly blessing, and She also blessed everything you brought to be blessed. Then I recommended also all of you, all of your needs, your intentions, your families and, in a special way, all the sick. After that Our Lady continued to pray over all of us here and She left in that prayer, in an illuminated Sign of the Cross, with a greeting, “Go in peace my dear children.”

Medjugorje, May 19, 2017

The church steeples of St. James in Medjugorje, taken from the Blue Cross tonight, May 19, 2017.

Our Lady said tonight to pray for families. A Friend of Medjugorje has often said that a nation will only be as strong as its families are, and that the Church will only be as strong as the family is. The strength of the Church is not so much its hierarchy, but rather its families.

In 1988, a Friend of Medjugorje arranged for couples on a Caritas Pilgrimage group to be Consecrated in prayer. Medjugorje visionary Marija was present and spoke these beautiful words:

“I shall recommend all of you to the Blessed Virgin. I want each of you to start living a new life so that each of you will become Our Lady’s witnesses and that you will take this consecration seriously. Our Lady says that every family is like a small church. You have to grow spiritually, but it is impossible for an individual to grow spiritually. We have to grow together in our holiness and in that way we shall become united and unity is what Our Lady wants. Our Lady always says that it is very important for us to set an example by our way of living for one another and that is the way we shall show one another the way to holiness. God bless you.”

A Friend of Medjugorje took the following prayer which Marija prayed in the presence of the Caritas Pilgrimage group, and adapted it as the Prayer for the Family Consecration. This was Marija’s prayer:

My Lord, I plead You tonight for my family. I plead You to bless us, to take care of us and to show us which way leads to salvation. My God, it is Your will that every single one of us will be changed, that our lives may become Your life; and tonight, my God, I am giving my family to You and I plead You, You embrace us and lead us, because You can do everything, You are Almighty. From this night on, I am giving my family to You and I plead You, give us Your blessing tonight because we are not strong enough to carry our burden alone, and I plead You my Lord, set us free from other ways but Yours. Let us be turned only towards You, towards Your will. Let us do only what You would like us to do. Let us always search for Your will; and I plead You, my Lord Jesus, give my family Your blessing tonight. Amen.

Spend these days in consecration of your families.
