Today, Friday, October 12, 2007, is bread day in Medjugorje. All the school children brought freshly baked bread today and set up tables outside the church to sell the bread. They are raising money to buy much needed medicine for one of the children here in Medjugorje. The mothers were busy yesterday and throughout the night baking the bread for the children to bring this morning. Around the church was full of life this morning as the children excitingly made their bread available to all those who walked by. Jakov, one of the six visionaries, spoke this morning to the English-speaking pilgrims and used this day as an encouragement for all pilgrims to make a firm commitment to fast. It was a beautiful way to show the pilgrims a part of the life of these people, who were chosen by the Mother of God to be witnesses for all of us.
