The Holy Father institutes a new set of mysteries to the Holy Rosary – the Luminous Mysteries:
1. The Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan
2. The Miracle of the Wedding Feast of Cana
3. The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God and the Call to Conversion
4. The Transfiguration
5. The Institution of the Holy Eucharist.
A Friend of Medjugorje asked Marija what Our Lady did when she first prayed these new mysteries of the Rosary. Marija said Our Lady did not say anything. She simply accepted the new mysteries. As scripture states of Peter, “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.†(Mt 16:19) What a Friend of Medjugorje has stated about the Luminous Mysteries is that the third Luminous Mystery in particular, The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God and the Call to Conversion defines exactly Medjugorje. Our Lady has come to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to call the world to conversion in this, our time.
