A Friend of Medjugorje was told personally by Our Lady through visionary Marija on October 6, 1986:
With Our Lady’s words to him came the fire of being an example to others and also the understanding of what it means to be a witness, in everything. One of the first things a Friend of Medjugorje did to “witness” on the way of light was form BVM Caritas Medjugorje Pilgrimages.

When making a decision on something as simple as the Medjugorje pilgrimage backpacks, one of the things a Friend of Medjugorje did with the first samples was grab the straps on them, and yank on them until they ripped. This was to make sure the pilgrims would not get something that was junk, but useful to their pilgrimage and beyond. Attention to these types of little details is part of being a witness on the way of light, to take one more headache away from the pilgrims so they can focus on their Medjugorje pilgrimage.
