Many have asked about the recent flooding in Bosnia…
May 21, 2014 A.D.
Today, May 21, 2014, the Holy Father, Pope Francis prayed for the victims of the recent floods in Bosnia-Hercegovina. Many have called and written asking about Medjugorje and flooding. The recent floods, though devastating, have not directly affected Medjugorje. The floods were farther to the north of Bosnia, and the village of Medjugorje rests in the Hercegovina region, more to the south.
Many times in the past, we have witnessed Our Lady’s hand of protection over Her Village of Medjugorje. Particularly during the war years in the early 1990s, Medjugorje was repeatedly protected though fighting was nearby. BVM Caritas Medjugorje Pilgrimages, continued to bring pilgrimages to Medjugorje during the war years, and though the region was experiencing great loss, the pilgrimages were very profound, with the grace of conversion still active. Our Lady of Medjugorje said on July 11, 1985:
“Dear children, I love the parish and with my mantle I protect it from every work of satan…”
It is still the same way today, the grace of conversion in Medjugorje is profound, and can only be experienced by visiting. For those who have wondered about the safety of traveling to Medjugorje at this time, the region is at peace and has been protected by Our Lady during the recent flooding. A Caritas Community member, working in our Mission House in Medjugorje has been keeping A Friend of Medjugorje and the Caritas Community updated with all of the latest information regarding this recent natural disaster.
Our prayers continue to remain with those affected, their families and those experiencing loss. Please continue to keep everyone in your daily prayers.
