Yesterday, a Big Day…

Yesterday was a big day in Medjugorje history. It was on December 13, 1988, that Our Lady, while appearing to Marija in the home of the founder of Caritas and his wife, asked for a Community to be established.

On December 13, 1988, Our Lady appeared to Medjugorje Marija in the Bedroom of the founder of Caritas and his wife. After the apparition, Marija turned to the founder of Caritas and his wife, in whose house she was living and said to him immediately after the apparition, “Our Lady wants to start a Community here.” The founder and his wife, were struck by Marija’s words.

Fr. Robert Faricy, a well-known Jesuit, who had written several books on Medjugorje, and had lived there was one of just a few people who were present for the apparition on December 13, 1988. Fr. Faricy said:

“I visited Marija in Birmingham and prayed with her and the others when Our Lady came to her in the bedroom. Not even in Medjugorje did I feel so strongly Mary’s presence as I did during Her apparition to Marija in Birmingham.”

The Community of Caritas, has risen up around the founder of Caritas and his family. Many throughout the world are seeking to model their lives on what Our Lady established at Caritas through the founder, his family, and through what the Community propagates to the world.
