The Land Where Dreams Come True

An American priest, on his last night in Medjugorje, decided not to go to sleep, but rather spend the night in prayer. Around 2:00 a.m. in the morning, he began walking back from St. James Church through a path overlooked by Cross Mountain. In the silence of the night, on the deserted path, he encountered a young, beautiful woman. She was nervous in his presence, so he reassured her that he meant her no harm. She had just arrived in Medjugorje. Slowly the girl told this gentle priest how she had run away from home at an early age to follow her dream to become a great singer on stage, but things hadn’t worked out the way she had hoped. Being hungry with no money, she was led into a life of destitution to earn her money, as women in desperate situations sometimes do. Not only were her dreams broken, but her heart as well. Then she heard about Medjugorje—that it was a place where hearts could go to be made new. She desperately wanted a new heart. She scraped together what money she could which was just enough to get her to Medjugorje, but she didn’t have a place to stay.

The priest told her that he was leaving early in the morning, that he had wanted to spend the night in prayer, so she could have his room for the night. He gave her what he had, which was hope, and told her he was certain Our Lady would take care of her from there. He asked her if she still sings, and when she said no, he asked if she would, at least, sing a song for him. She was silent for a moment, but then began to sing on that empty path, in the middle of a grassy meadow, under the moon and a sky full of shining stars, with the dark silhouette of the mountains of Medjugorje standing as if they were the backdrops of a large stage. She sang softly and beautifully, bringing tears to the priest’s eyes as he saw the beauty of the girl’s soul break through the brokenness of her heart. And what was the song she sang?

Somewhere, over the rainbow
way up high
There’s a land that I’ve heard of,
once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
and the dreams that you dare to dream
really do come true…

If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow…why oh why can’t I?

Sometimes my heart is broken because souls do not know what Our Lady offers them in Medjugorje. Do you have a broken heart, broken dreams, broken lives? Bring them to the Mother, to the land where the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true. That’s the miracle of Medjugorje.

Leading You to the Place Broken Hearts are Mended,

Dear Caritas, I was just singing another song that makes me think of Jesus and our Holy Mother of God the Virgin Mary. Its by Simon and Garfunkel, Bridge Over Troubled Waters. Jesus is the bridge who laid down His life for us, and Mary is the “silver girl”, sail on silver girl, as she did with Columbus, and the part “your time has come to shine” being the 100th year anniversary of Fatima. May She shine and Her intentions for the world come forth. I was singing this as I sing often to Mary many songs, as well as the Lord Jesus Christ, for I to can relate to the girl who was there in Medjugorje with no place to sleep and there dreams crushed. I’ve longed to be able to go just be able to go to Medjugorje. Your site has helped me tremendously as I truly believe you are being guided by the Divine to help others. May God always bless you all at Caritas, and continue to guide you.
