What is Your Obligation in Lieu of the Apparitions?

What is Your Obligation in Lieu of the Apparitions?

Medjugorje visionary Mirjana in ecstasy

Mirjana in ecstasy, today at 9:00 a.m., November 2, 2008, on the Feast of All Souls Day. Those closest to Mirjana cannot help but be moved deep in their hearts watching the array of emotions that spread across Mirjana’s face throughout the several minutes that Our Lady is with us. It is a memory that will stay with them for the rest of their lives, and even into eternity.

As November comes round to Medjugorje, the height of the pilgrimage season is behind us, but that did not stop thousands from attending Mirjana’s apparition this morning. Before daylight descended upon the day, the building in which Mirjana’s apparition would take place was already full, and buses continued to bring pilgrims as each hour passed, leading to 9:00 a.m., which was the time of the apparition.

When Mirjana arrived, about ten minutes before 9:00 a.m., a large amount of people came in and filled the entire center area, leaving barely enough room for Mirjana to squeeze in. Once a space was cleared for her, she knelt down and lowered her head, taking the next remaining moments to prepare herself for the great joy that was coming to her. If one is in a position to see Mirjana during her apparition, it is always a great joy to see her head go up, the smile spread across her face, the tears form in her eyes, and her arms extending out towards Our Lady. Words cannot describe the beauty of that moment, and the moments that follow, seeing Mirjana enveloped in the love of Our Lady. There were many tears falling from her eyes during the apparition today, and many in the crowd began silently weeping seeing Mirjana’s face. At the end of the apparition, when Our Lady was ascending back to Heaven, Mirjana leaned so far back as she watched Our Lady leaving, that many people around her thought she was falling over. It was a dramatic ending to a beautiful apparition, on this day of All Soul’s Day.

Our Lady Queen of Peace of Medjugorje’s November 2, 2008 Message to Mirjana Soldo

“Dear children, today I call you to a complete union with God. Your body is on earth, but I ask you for your soul to be all the more often in God’s nearness. You will achieve this through prayer, prayer with an open heart. In that way you will thank God for the immeasurable goodness which He gives to you through Me and, with a sincere heart, you will receive the obligation to treat the souls whom you meet with equal goodness. Thank you, my children.”

Our Lady added:

“With the heart I pray to God to give strength and love to your shepherds to help you in this and to lead you.”

pilgrims leaving apparition in medjugorje

As the thousands of pilgrims leave Mirjana’s apparition today, November 2, 2008, not all were conscious of being in the School of Our Lady, which is what many have come to name Medjugorje after so many years of messages. On the second of the month apparitions, Our Lady often speaks to Her children to encourage them and teach them how to love, especially those who have not yet come to know the love of God. Today She asked us to “receive the obligation to treat the souls whom you meet with equal goodness” that God gives us through these apparitions. This river of pilgrims will shortly leave Medjugorje and bring this message to their countries around the world. May they, and all of us, receive this obligation and live these words of Our Lady that we may one day see Her plans succeed for the salvation of the whole world.

While it is obvious today is All Soul’s Day and our thoughts are on loved ones who have passed away, those you encounter in this life, conditions, and many other factors, while the body is on earth, determine our eternal outcome. Our Lady’s words are clear. Our souls are to be elevated near to God. But this life and the events that occur in our life, while our bodies are on this earth, are forming a way of life, leading towards salvation of souls while on earth.

On another note, again, in a positive way, Our Lady says today on the day of nonbelievers on the second of the month, that She Herself is praying for “your shepherds.” Anyone who shepherds you, who helps you, needs strength and love to lead you. In the book of Lamentations, Chapter 2:9, it states, “priestly instruction is wanting.” A week ago, a couple told us of the Engaged Encounter they attended in which one-third of the couples preparing for marriage were living together and saw nothing wrong with it. This was quite open to all, and yet the priest never said a word. A lay couple confronted them, in essence saying “you are wrong for this and are living in sin.” A constant complaint for years that we have heard from the membership of the Church is about the silence of the shepherds from the pulpit in general.

Where do we hear, for the love of God, divorce being condemned? When do we hear, “no more divorce”? What of the blasé attitude and blatant ignoring of the Sabbath, the silence instead of the denouncing of atrocious appetites for entertainment, sports, money, material things as gods, replacing God, and on and on.

Our Lady just said on October 25, 2008:

“…through your prayers, you may stop satan’s plan over this world, which is further from God every day, and which puts itself in the place of God…”

We, as Our Lady said today, are under obligation to treat people with equal goodness because we have been given the immeasurable goodness through Our Lady’s coming and giving us wisdom. The United States of America, a nation given to Our Lady from its beginning, formally being consecrated several times throughout its history by the shepherds of the Catholic Church and consecrated directly into Our Lady’s hands during Her presence on July 4, 2008 by the laity, is a gift of goodness to all the earth. How few recognize this goodness of God and how many despise this gift of our nation. Nations do mean something in the Good Book of God’s Word. Nations are important and are lifted up when they follow His commands and brought low when they abandon them. Some never recover. Lamentations’ verse, “priestly instruction is wanting,” is speaking directly of Israel’s demise and fall, tying it to its priests, and thereby, to the fall of its people and nation. The gift of God’s goodness principled and cored into the United States founding documents are the principles of Jesus Christ Himself. Unalienable rights recognized through its Declaration and managed through its Constitution are decidedly pointed out as rights which come from God, His goodness. Unalienable rights do not originate from man or government, but from God’s goodness. Equally, as we have been blessed by God’s goodness, we are to bless. Cored into the very fabric of our founding documents, the dream our forefathers were inspired to create, was a nation with equal justice (goodness) for all. An element of leftist liberation has hijacked social justice. In our republic, the gift of equal justice gives the opportunity for anyone to flourish and for those who do, they, in their Christian obligation, are to help those in need. Left wing socialists’ ideas influencing social justice have come to mean to embrace a culture of death in the womb, redefining marriage, family, private property, ranging all the way to liberty and freedom itself to the right to determine how one distributes their own goods and blessings. It is for the individual to decide how best to treat souls and distribute equal goodness to those they meet in this life.

The Church has always condemned socialism, which replaces God with government and Christian obligation with government programs. Pope John Paul II, as well as our present Pope Benedict, have denounced socialism. Where social justice and equal justice should be one, several aspects of social justice now are in opposition. A confusion exists in what social justice vs. equal justice are. Equal justice means giving the same justice to everyone. Social justice, in the beginning, meant bringing an injustice back to justice. Today social justice means reapportioning to make everyone equalized and is a form of national socialism and is drawing into a form of globalist socialism. As Our Lady words say, “complete union with God”, it is then we will have no confusion or illusions. Aspects of social justice has been influenced by small groups of committees advising and influencing many shepherds, who accept many things that they, as shepherds, should reject. The emergence of committees was denounced in the 1940’s* as a danger that would be used to do bad things. They easily would evolve into skirting around or compromising decisions of authority of the individuals they were advising. The individuals would also fall prey to them so not to have to carry the responsibility of a decision which on some occasions might not be a good one. Our Lady now intercedes with Her prayer for the shepherds to have strength and the love to reject the influencing elements of committees and act in concert with the word of God to bring in “union” the sheep to the nearness of God. The same nearness God wanted with ancient Israel is the same nearness He desires of us today to be in union with. In regard to states, the union which has captured this concept of equal goodness (justice) the most is called the United States of America. A union of States, whose nearness to God comes from its founding, foundationed directly on Biblical principles, outlined in a testament of the man-God who is Christ, whose Mother gave a significant sign of confirmation July 4, 2008, the Nation’s birthday, when She came with three angels to accept the reconsecration of the union of the United States in order to come back, with Her help, to the principles of Her Son.

Some may wonder if these writings are straying from the intentions of Our Lady’s messages. Our Lady’s messages are all encompassing, as well as for individuals, and intimately personal, medicine for the nations, given once each month. The last chapter of the Bible, among the very last words of the Bible, it states, “...produce fruit 12 times a year, once each month…as medicine for the nations...” Rev. Chapter 22:2 These messages are a template to be transposed over every aspect of life, every issue and every nation. And now, besides the 25th message given once each month, we have another message given once each month, twelve times a year, the second of the month. They cannot be narrowed down and squeezed and kept in a little box of the beginning four basic messages of only prayer, peace, fasting, and penance, without diminishing the plans of Our Lady. Rather, they are to be built upon and expanded to touch every aspect, every culture, every nation to change and correct the entire world. What affects and changes the United States of America changes and affects the whole world. The turmoil we now see began to rapidly escalate after the consecration of July 4, 2008 and serves to force one to make a decision about many things. Election Day, November 4, 2008, is critically important, but not nearly as important as for God’s people to come to revival. The right leaders, November 4, cannot help us if we do not decide for repentance and revival. Restoration and renewal cannot happen without the first steps of prayer and repentance. Then and only then will God deal with the hearts of our leaders. In essence, it is impossible for peace to come through the presidents, but rather from the people. In Medjugorje, Our Lady came first to the laity, to the people, and even told us:

August 29, 1982

“…I am the Mother who has come from the people…”

Lastly, no doubt there will be those who say, how dare one to write about our shepherds this way. It is time to be honest. Our Lady’s beautiful way of being positive, saying today, With the heart I pray to God to give strength and love to your shepherds to help you in this and to lead you,” means also something negative. Something is lacking and points to that something which is in want and is needed. True honesty with self and humility will result in self evaluation. This is what we have all had to do as lay people following Our Lady’s messages for years. Our Lady has, for years, corrected us, grilled us, encouraged us, admonished us to change our direction, to go through life without self interest. The people are the Church. For the first time in the history of the Church, the Universal Church is being renewed through the laity. Medjugorje and Our Lady’s plans are first a call to the people as a lay led movement. Our sinfulness recognized through Our Lady’s apparitions and messages has brought us to humility, recognizing our nothingness and then being filled with God’s goodness and love. Through this means, we have been called to be apostles of love and apostles of goodness, to speak, preach, teach, first by witnessing and living the messages.

There are many good bishops and priests, especially in the Medjugorje movement and we wish to express our sincere gratitude and thanksgiving for them. But Our Lady is calling for honest evaluation of all actions and our witness for everyone. The hierarchy and the people are fruiting a judgment as Israel did so many times when they fell from God’s Commandments. This should in no certain terms mean there can be disrespect for bishops or priests, for each one is, as Our Lady says, “My Son”, and when they bless, you receive Jesus’ blessing. The magisterium is the teaching authority of the Church. Every faithful Catholic, to be obedient, must accept, believe, and profess that truth. But we must also remember that what the magisterium teaches is enlightened and can come from the saints, those who God converted and gave a special calling. In Church history, teachers often looked and listened to the many Therese“s”, Francis“es”, and Joan of Arc“s” to understand, learn and teach about the Scriptures. This is Medjugorje. The Church is about to re-bloom with a second Pentecost. And now, Our Lady wants the shepherds to pay attention to the herd, for it is from the herd that they will learn what kind of food they need for nourishment to grow and live the spiritual life. It is the herd which feeds the Church membership and who Jesus, when He came into the world, put His efforts upon and in service to them. The new lay movements of the Church which are fruitful missions, shepherds should look at and see the actions of the Holy Spirit. They must not hinder or stymie or look with indifference at the dawning of new lay movements. Pope Benedict, speaking to bishops, said this year May 15-17, 2008 at Rocca di Papa near Rome:

“Ecclesial movements and new communities are one of the most important novelties the Holy Spirit has generated in the Church in order to put Vatican Council II into effect….Paul VI and John Paul II were able to welcome and discern, to encourage and promote, the unexpected emergence of the new lay groups which, in various and surprising ways, restored vitality, faith and hope to the entire Church.

“No small amount of prejudice, resistance and tension has been overcome. There remains the important task of promoting more mature communion among the components of the Church so that all charisms, while respecting the specific nature of each, may fully and freely contribute to constructing the one Body of Christ.

Pope Benedict then told the bishops he was addressing:

“I ask you to reach out to the movements with great love. Reaching out with great love to movements and new communities impels us to an adequate knowledge of their situation, avoiding superficial impressions and reductive judgments. (This helps us to understand that such movements) are not a problem…they are a gift from the Lord, a precious resource to enrich the entire Christian community with their charisms.”

“Difficulties and misunderstandings on particular points do not justify [an attitude] of closure.” He told the prelates that they must “…closely accompany the movements and new communities with paternal solicitude so as to put to good use the many gifts they bear, gifts we have learned to know and appreciate: their missionary drive.”

Our shepherds, both priests and lay leaders are crucial for leadership. Let us pray, give our loyalty and our love for them to step up and feed the emaciated and hungry sheep whose herd is riddled with the symptoms of malnutrition, such as rampant divorce, destruction of the family, denial of sin, and insensitivity to what is sin.

With Love,
