What is required for God to hear our prayers?

Pilgrims praying in St. James Church, Medjugorje

Pilgrims praying in St. James Church in Medjugorje. The climate of prayer in Medjugorje is something that is physically felt. One receives a desire to pray in Medjugorje because it is easy to pray there, everyone else is doing it. It is something that should follow each pilgrim home, long after the “high” of the pilgrimage wears off.

What is required for God to hear our prayers? A Friend of Medjugorje tells us:

“…In order to answer a righteous prayer, God doesn’t need us to bend over backwards to get His attention. He just needs a pure heart…” 1

It is as Our Lady said on March 9, 1985:

“You can receive a grace immediately, or in a month, or in ten years. I do not need The Lord’s Prayer said a hundred or two hundred times. It is better to pray only one, but with a desire to encounter God…”

If one finds themselves waning in prayer, go to Confession, desire to amend one’s heart, and then pray, not only because one wants something from God, but, with a desire to encounter God.

I entirely agree with this writing. I have gone through that experience several times; received graces instantly or later. All this depending on the state of my heart (pure or not pure).

  2. I randomly selected a message this morning, and then I read the writing for today. I cannot help but think my random message this morning is for everyone participating in the Caritas novena right now, especially since we have entered into the “thanksgiving” phase. Thank you, Our Lady of Victory, for encouraging us. January 3, 1985 “Dear children, these days the Lord has bestowed upon you great graces. Let this week be one of thanksgiving for all the graces God has granted you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
