Medjugorje visionary Marija Lunetti arrived in Medjugorje on June 17, 2010. Marija’s apparition takes place in her Chapel of Two Hearts each evening. Pictured here is the apparition from Saturday, June 19. As with many of the villagers of Medjugorje, Marija does a special sacrificial novena leading up to the anniversary of Our Lady’s first apparition on June 24, climbing Apparition Mountain each day beginning on June 15 and ending on June 23.
A Friend of Medjugorje also arrived on the 17th. For years he has joined Marija in the sacrificial novena up to the mountain. Though most of the villagers will go up the mountain during the day, because of Marija’s many responsibilities she is only able to climb the mountain late at night. Though every year she climbs to the top of Apparition Mountain, praying the Rosary and spending some time in silent prayer when up at the top, the last three nights there have been torrential rainfalls, with water streaming down the mountain in rivers. Though the dark streets are all but deserted at this time of night in this very undesirable weather, Marija, A Friend of Medjugorje and a few others, walked and prayed through the pouring rain, laughing and joyful. In this rain it is impossible for feet to stay dry and a few actually took off their shoes and walked barefoot as they were soaked to the skin.
The weather here in the days leading up to the anniversary is cold! Even during the day it is cool enough where many are wearing sweaters and jackets. Can’t wait until the 25th!
