A second “Blue Cross†was erected on Apparition Mountain right next to the first Blue Cross, one of the most hallowed places of prayer in Medjugorje because of the many apparitions that Our Lady has had there. This second Blue Cross is newer and bigger and was placed there to reserve a location for Ivan and his prayer group when they met for the evening apparitions on the mountain. With pilgrims arriving many hours before an apparition, the prayer group could not easily find a place to gather together so stone benches were also constructed in front of the Cross. The site of the second Blue Cross eventually became the location for Mirjana’s second of the month apparitions as well. The two Blue Crosses continue to be a favorite place of silent prayer for pilgrims as it is a favored place of Our Lady’s visitations.
