Prayers for the United States from Medjugorje

Ivan, who had remained in Medjugorje after the attack on the United States on September 11th, climbed to the top of Apparition Mountain with his prayer group along with thousands of pilgrims for an apparition that took place on September 14, at 10:00 p.m. Our Lady appeared very, very sorrowful. Ivan said the cause of Our Lady’s sorrow was because of what had happened in America, for all the lives lost, and all the people suffering. Our Lady said:

“Dear children, peace, peace, peace. Pray for peace with your Mother.”

A Caritas Community member who was in Medjugorje during the days of the 911 attacks sent news from Medjugorje to the Community back home. She wrote on September 12th:

“English Mass today was offered for all the victims and their families. After Mass when many Americans in Medjugorje gathered together to plan prayer events for the next few days, someone asked for everyone to join in singing America the Beautiful and I can tell you there wasn’t a dry eye in the place, even all the guides were crying. There are pilgrims here who have family members and friends who work in the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and haven’t been able to get through to find out if they are okay or not. And then, of course, everyone realizes that the whole world is going to be affected by this and things will not be the same anywhere in the world. In the Mission House this morning, as we were doing Morning Prayer today and of course praying about all that is going on, we opened Words from Heaven at random to the message December 31, 1985:

‘Next year is the year of peace; not because men have named it so, but because God has programmed it. You will not have peace through the presidents but through prayer. When you hear the bells at midnight, you will fall on your knees, bow your head to the ground so that the King of Peace will come. This year I will offer my peace to the world. But afterwards, I will ask you where you were when I offered you my peace.’”
