At the Medjugorje conference at Notre Dame University in Indiana, one of the bishops present said:
“John Paul II not only suffers because the message of Medjugorje has not been accepted, and for the war that surrounds that country, but he suffers even more so for the situation existing within the Church for this division between the bishops and the crisis of acceptance of the supernatural, which he himself has said is evident in Medjugorje.â€
Pope John Paul II’s close friend, Bishop Pavol Hnilica, also stated the same on several occasions.
