At the personal invitation of Cardinal Christoph Schonborn, Archbishop of Vienna, Medjugorje visionary, Marija, went to St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna for a Medjugorje prayer gathering and received the apparition of Our Lady during the gathering. For years, Cardinal Schonborn has witnessed the powerful conversion of his faithful who have been to Medjugorje. He has stated many times that if Medjugorje were to ever be closed down, he would have to also close his seminaries, because all of his vocations are coming from Medjugorje. In Vienna, prayer groups were birthed through Medjugorje and he watched with admiration the spiritual growth of its members over the years. It was the witness of these parishioners that led him to want to meet the visionaries and bring them to his diocese.
