Fr. Vlasic Scandal

Fr. Vlasic Scandal

The Decree from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith regarding Fr. Vlasic was handed over to him in Rome. Fr. Vlasic did not respond, even partially, to the demands of ecclesiastical obedience. He was reported to the Congregation “for the diffusion of dubious doctrine, manipulation of consciences, suspected mysticism, disobedience towards legitimately issued orders and charges contra sectam.” Because of Fr. Vlasic’s non-response, ecclesiastical sanctions and the Censure of Interdict were imposed. Fr. Tomislav Vlasic was a young Franciscan priest who was assigned to Medjugorje when Fr. Jozo was sent to prison in 1981. He became involved with the visionaries and helped to form the first youth prayer groups in Medjugorje. His work was orthodox and bore good spiritual fruit in the lives of many who were following Our Lady. However, he began taking a path that led him away from the spirit of Our Lady and Medjugorje. Fr. Vlasic seperated from Medjugorje years before this Decree given to him by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
