Croatian President Visits Medjugorje

Croatian President, Franjo Tudjam, visited Medjugorje on this day. A crowd of 30,000 people came to greet him, as well as a group of the highest ranking officials of the Republic of Croatia and the Federation of Bosnia-Hercegovina. With the Bishop of Mostar present and the priests of the surrounding area, President Tudjman repeated the following statement publicly that was made to him on two occasions by Pope John Paul II:

“Again, I repeat that on the occasion of my last conversation with him, Pope John Paul II said that, on the occasion of his visit to Bosnia-Hercegovina, he would like also to visit Medjugorje.”
