In a personal meeting with the Holy Father, Msgr. George Hamilton Pearce, Archbishop of the Fiji Islands, recorded the following words of John Paul II in regards to Medjugorje.
“We had many humorous remarks from Pope John Paul II. Somebody asked him why he had not been to Medjugorje yet, and he answered, ‘It has not been approved yet.’â€
Msgr. Pearce spoke of a conversation he had with Mirjana that morning.
“Mirjana told us this morning that John Paul told her that if he were not the Pope, he would have gone to Medjugorje long ago.â€
