On October 2009, Monsignor Edmond Farhat, former Apostolic Nuncio of Austria, went to Medjugorje with a group of 2,000 Austrian pilgrims. Monsignor Farhat told the Mass congregation there that he had spoken to Pope Benedict XVI of his planned pilgrimage and that the pope was delighted.
