The Cross of Christ Can Bring Healing and Joy

During the first days of BVM/Caritas’ latest pilgrimage, the group prayerfully climbs Cross Mountain together, praying the Stations of the Cross and helping each other reach the top. It is a very important time for each pilgrim in the group, and a time that brings the group closer together through the sharing of this experience. As each pilgrim reaches the top, they go to the foot of the Cross to lay down all their burdens, sufferings, joys, sorrows before the Lord and Our Lady, asking for the grace to be emptied of all the things in their hearts that are preventing God’s grace to enter. It is a beautiful and intimate time for each pilgrim, an encounter with God in a beautiful way. A Friend of Medjugorje writes of this:

“Many today cannot bear their problems and sufferings. They no longer know how. Some turn to alcohol, drugs, or even suicide. Others have no peace, just depression. Everyone has some problem and when one goes before a Crucifix and prays and places all the pains and difficulties upon the Crucifix, suddenly everything changes. Depression leaves, burdens become lighter, and a real desire comes to carry our crosses.

“…give all problems and difficulties to Jesus and pray. Pray, pray, pray! Every evening during this month, pray in front of the Crucifix…”

When praying before the Crucifix, suffering changes. What appears worthless becomes a great treasure to help save yourself and others, and inner peace can come. The violence of the Crucifixion is no longer there, only love and peace.

“…pray at the foot of the Crucifix for peace…”

During the Stations of the Cross, the group randomly picked a message of Our Lady from Words from Heaven, where She asked them to pray the Glorious Mysteries when we go home that day. The group gathered after dinner that night to pray the Rosary in response to Our Lady’s message. It was a beautiful, peace-filled, and joyful Rosary as each pilgrim contemplated the graces they received as they walked along Jesus and Our Lady’s footsteps to Calvary and laid their hearts before Our Lord at the foot of the Cross, accepting the graces of peace and strength that was offered to them for answering Our Lady’s call.

“…Thank you for having responded to my call…”

BVM Caritas Pilgrim in Medjugorje

One of three nuns from Kenya stationed in the United States, after climbing Cross Mountain as part of the BVM Caritas Medjugorje Pilgrimage group, pauses to pray at the foot of the Cross, laying down her burdens before her spouse, Jesus, and His Blessed Mother.

P.S. A Friend of Medjugorje will be present during the June 17-26 pilgrimage to Medjugorje, but the June pilgrimage fills up quickly. It is important to call in right away to secure a spot.
