Special: Just A Peek

Special: Just A Peek

Today October 6, is the Special Caritas Silver Jubilee. On this special Caritas Silver Jubilee Anniversary, we offer a continuation of the October 2, message of Our Lady through Mirjana.

October 6, 2011 A.D.

When Our Lady made it known for a community to be established in 1988, it was not fully understood what the purpose of it would be. Our Lady revealed through the years that not only its work would be to provide the labor that operates Caritas, but, primarily, its purpose was to be a window to the future of how people will live together just as the early Christians did at the dawn of the Church. The life of the community, keeping Caritas operating, propagating Our Lady’s messages are the lesser part of a life in servitude for the salvation of souls. The primary purpose of the life Our Lady has gifted us with is to live a holy way and be a witness, a little village, steeped in faith. We are to witness what it means to be a Christian lived out through our Catholic faith. Caritas is a window to the future of little communities, villages and parishes built with prayer that will spring up everywhere. These communities and villages will have a profound impact building new societies and will be what will save the world and bring a new springtime into the Church. Our Lady said on September 25, 2011:

“…I call you, for this time to be for all of you, a time of witnessing. You, who live in the love of God and have experienced His gifts, witness them with your words and life that they may be for the joy and encouragement to others in faith…”

Since Our Lady asked for a community to be created here at Caritas, praying three hours each day, incorporating Our Lady’s messages into it’s very being, how could these prayers and messages placed into life not evolve into Our Lady’s words to those

“…who live in the love of God…”

We live firsthand experiences of God’s gifts to our way of life. In response to the following words of Our Lady we share this behind-the-scenes look at the Community of Caritas:

September 25, 2011

“…I call you, for this time to be for all of you, a time of witnessing. You, who live in the love of God and have experienced His gifts, witness them with your words and life that they may be for the joy and encouragement to others in faith…”

If you begin to live Our Lady’s messages which are for your future you will not feel the passage from this present way we live into the new way of life we will be living on this earth. We in community, here at Caritas, have the privilege, the joy of living the future now. It is Our Lady who said:

October 25, 1985

“…Here you have a time of grace and conversion. It is necessary to use it well.”

The privilege of knowing Our Lady’s messages, the beautiful gift and privilege of a call to bring the community into being did not come without great difficulties, and a lot of work through blood, sweat and tears, crosses, hardships, persecution, hatred and slanders towards us, all of which contained the ingredients that made the early Christians who they were formed and molded to be. With our lives we testify to joy by the birthing of the physical manifestation of Our Lady’s words:

May 25, 1992

“…begin anew to pray, until prayer becomes a joy for you…”

A life of prayer, arduous prayer, a solid commitment to prayer cannot but lead to joy. Our life of sacrifice, our life of living for others and for their salvation has brought purpose and meaning that enriches our lives. This results in joy. We understand who we are. Yes, we are sinners, but sinners who have been rescued from a broken society and its destructive ways—ways which are as a millstone around one’s neck before being thrown into the sea. Our Lady has rescued us, shown us a way, the way for a new future that is coming for all the world. We have witnessed to you of this new way with our lives for years and now because of Our Lady’s recent words, words which we make our own by bringing life to them, we testify to the gifts God has given—a way of life not only achieved through us for those of you we encounter, but to encourage your faith. When you are undergoing trials by following Our Lady’s messages, our witness of traveling this passage of trials and difficulties is an encouragement for you to help lead you to a way, where your everyday life will become a life seamless with Heaven. A life that opens up the porthole of Heaven where angels descend and ascend from Heaven to earth and earth to Heaven, where the place they visit resides and abounds with Our Lady’s words tuned into life. It becomes an abode of God that witnesses the joy that prayer leads to and serves as an incentive and an encouragement to others in faith.

September 25, 2011

“…You, who live in the love of God and have experienced His gifts, witness them with your words and life that they may be for the joy and encouragement to others in faith…”

However, our life at Caritas is not an idealistic bed of roses. The reality is that there are many thorns which grow with these roses. But oh, how the flowers’ beauty shines forth while they rise out of the mud. If you would accept the mud of everything that is thrown at you in life with love, as the Community of Caritas has done, you will grow into a beautiful flower Our Lady will pick, joined together into a bouquet forming a mosaic for all eternity.

November 25, 1989

“…Little children, by means of the messages I wish to make a very beautiful mosaic in your heart so I may be able to present each one of you to God like the original image…”

Only if we love can this be achieved. A priest by the name of Fr. Shammon, who is now deceased, was close to Caritas. He came to believe fully in Medjugorje after an experience he had in the first apparition he attended. During his first stay in Medjugorje, he went to an apparition of Marija and Ivan that was taking place in the choir loft of St. James Church. Without telling anyone, he had hidden under his coat, next to his heart, the Eucharist. He was standing up with a few others when Our Lady appeared. Fr. Slavko told everyone to kneel down at the moment of the apparition. Fr. Shammon stayed standing. Fr. Slavko again told him to kneel. Fr. Shammon remained standing. Fr. Slavko in exasperation again said for him to kneel down. Fr. Shammon stood defiantly, disregarding Slavko’s direction throughout the apparition. Why? After the apparition ended, Fr. Shammon said he was blocked from kneeling down. Repeatedly he tried, but could not. He had tried more times than what Slavko had told him, but could not. Before the apparition, Fr. Shammon had asked for a sign from Our Lady if it was true that She was really appearing. He had brought the Eucharist for protection in case something was not right with the apparitions. He got the sign he prayed for when his legs literally locked up, preventing his knees from bending down before Our Lady. An overwhelming thought came over him during the moments of Our Lady’s presence. Our Lady revealed to Fr. Shammon through this that “My Son is not to bow before me.” The reality of Our Lady preventing him from kneeling down because Her Son was before Her in the Eucharist made Fr. Shammon a big believer in Medjugorje. Fr. Shammon also became a big believer in Caritas. Caritas is a Latin word and means love and charity. Fr. Shammon and some of the community reviewing a film about Caritas made in the early 1990’s, saw on the screen a message Our Lady gave in the Bedroom on November 30, 1988. Our Lady said:

“I wish that all your life be love, only love. Everything that you do, do it with love. In every little thing, see Jesus and His example. You also do as Jesus did. He died out of love for you. You also offer all you do with love to God, even the smallest little things of everyday life.”

Caritas had existed, at this time, for only 2 ½ years when Our Lady gave this message. This was three years before the community came into being but Our Lady was already setting forth a foundation, first through a family, with messages given in the present to form the future. Fr. Shammon, upon seeing and pointing to the November 30, 1988 message said “That message, that message is for you! It’s the Community of Caritas.” We responded by asking, “What do you mean?” He said, “Can’t you see it, can’t you see it?” We said no. “It’s who you are. (Caritas is the Latin word for love). See what Our Lady said, ‘I wish that all your life be Caritas, only Caritas. Everything that you do, do it with Caritas. In every little thing, see Jesus and His example. You also do as Jesus did. He died out of love for you. You also offer all you do with Caritas to God, even the smallest little things of everyday life. You’re the Community of Love.” We fell silent at this revelation of a message that had been in our possession for several years.

With the passing years, we’ve received many gifts, special direct messages, signs, interventions from God won for us through Our Lady’s hand. For the most part we have kept these things hidden and private. And in our silence we have even let those who have made themselves enemies to us have their say without our response. Our Lady said for us to live in humility. We have had the consolation of intimate encounters with Our Lady that gave us the truth of what She has chosen us for and what our walk is to be. So we’ve kept many things hidden. We felt we shouldn’t be sharing certain things as it might give the appearance of thinking too much of what Our Lady has done for us. But now Our Lady says:

September 25, 2011

“…I call you, for this time to be for all of you, a time of witnessing. You, who live in the love of God and have experienced His gifts, witness them with your words and life that they may be for the joy and encouragement to others in faith…”

The following is a window of the behind the scenes of our life and ways based in the Christian life lived out through Our Lady’s messages, a way of life which contains every sweetness of life but is also a bitter way.

July 25, 1987

“…Dear children, pray and accept all that God is offering you on a way which is bitter. But at the same time, God will reveal every sweetness to whomever begins to go on that way…”

We are joined together in a community, becoming family, living a perfect way of life by imperfect people. We are sinners who are everyday in need of repentance. But, oh the gift received by “this way” has all the sweetness of life. We leave you with one last message specifically given to us and the Caritas Community to encourage your faith and bring joy to you through Our Lady’s words:

May 31, 1995

“Little children, I desire that through your lives you are witnesses, that you are my extended hands, my instruments. Get as many hearts as you can close to my heart and lead them to God, to a way of salvation.”

We offer you the following behind the scenes look at the gift of life Our Lady has given to us in order to “get” you closer to Our Lady’s heart “to a way of salvation in a new time.”

A Sinner on Behalf of a Bunch of Sinners

in Community, Living a

Way of Life to Holiness,

A Friend of Medjugorje

Our Lady Queen of Peace of Medjugorje’s October 2, 2011 Message
Given to Mirjana on the Day for Non-Believers

“Dear children; Also today my motherly heart calls you to prayer, to your personal relationship with God the Father, to the joy of prayer in Him. God the Father is not far away from you and He is not unknown to you. He revealed Himself to you through my Son and gave you Life that is my Son. Therefore, my children, do not give in to temptations that want to separate you from God the Father. Pray! Do not attempt to have families and societies without Him. Pray! Pray that your hearts may be flooded by the goodness which comes only from my Son, Who is sincere goodness. Only hearts filled with goodness can comprehend and accept God the Father. I will continue to lead you. In a special way I implore you not to judge your shepherds. My children, are you forgetting that God the Father called them? Pray! Thank you.”

Mirjana said:

“I have never said anything before, but are you aware, that the Mother of God was with us? Each of us should ask himself: ‘Are you worthy of this?’ I am saying this because it is difficult for me to see Her (Our Lady) in pain, because each of us is seeking a miracle, but does not want to work a miracle in himself.”

Lucy with Candle

It is through the Sacraments of the church that we receive the “Life” of Jesus that Our Lady spoke of in Her most recent second of the month message on October 2, 2011. Baptism is the first sacrament, and all the others cannot be received without first being baptized—the sacrament that makes us members of the Church. The message of Our Lady given on October 2, 2011 had particular meaning for the Caritas Community because of what we did the day before, on Saturday, October 1, 2011. On this day we celebrated the baptism of four community babies—Luke Paul, Bishop Augustine, Jacob Jeremiah, and Lucy Christina. Lucy is the newest of the babies, born just two weeks ago, on September 17, 2011—she is also the only one with pink writing on her blanket. The other three had blue.

Rose and Elizabeth

Medjugorje visionary Mirjana, once said that many Christians “go to church or places of worship just because it is a tradition, but they are unbelievers because they do not really know and love God. They only go to places of worship as a social custom.” Our Lady has come to change that. She is putting the love of God back into the Faith. She is not only showing us what we have lost, but how to find it again. For more than a week, many of the community were busy planning and preparing for this Day of Baptism. It was to be a beautiful day of celebration for all in the community.

Frames with Baby Pictures

Front and center in the room, at the foot of Our Lady’s statue, were the pictures of our four babies with their names. None of the couples of the community ever let the nurses tell them through a sonogram if the baby is a boy or a girl. For us it cheats us out of joy at the moment of birth. To know ahead of time is like knowing what’s in a Christmas present before it’s opened, its then no big deal. It is a steadfast rule in our community that God chooses the name of each child, not the parents. While the child is still in the womb of his mother, the parents do a 54-day Rosary novena (sometimes more than one) asking God through Our Lady for the grace that He would name their child. Not until the day the baby is born do they discover if they have a new son or daughter. Once they receive through various ways a name(not people suggesting names) , they ask God to confirm it several times. The process of how God the Father does this is always a beautiful unfolding story. It has taken as long as 8 days to discover a name but the way has never failed. The parents confess that sometimes the name takes a little getting used to as it is not one that they would have necessarily chosen, or on occasion, even liked. But there is something so mysterious in this “way” of Our Lady that our founder was led to follow, that the community then embraced. The name of each child reveals something of the unique purpose of their life and even something of their future. Each child grows up having their own special story of how God the Father named them. And because they know He named them, they understand so simply that they belong to Him.

Luke

Our Lady said on October 2, 2011, “…God the Father is not far away from you…” With one hand holding onto his father, and the other hand reaching to the water that will bring “New Life” at the words of the priest, little Luke Paul becomes a new citizen for Heaven.

May 25, 2009

“…I call you all to pray for the coming of the Holy Spirit upon every baptized creature, so that the Holy Spirit may renew you all and lead you on the way of witnessing your faith…”

Luke, along with the other three community babies, have officially become a member of the 2,000 year old Church that was founded by Jesus Christ, Himself—the Church that the Mother of God has come, in this Her time, to purify and resurrect in the name of Her Son.

Lucy being baptized

Young Bridget Christina holds her namesake, Lucy Christina, as she is being baptized by our parish priest. Bridget and brother, Joshua, aunt and uncle of little Lucy were also given the privilege of being named her Godmama and Godpapa. Even at this young age, they understand what it means to be a good “witness” to all the children of the community, not just this newly born baby. This was the call of Our Lady to our founder on October 6, 1986, the foundation message of his life, and the life of the community.

October 6, 1986

“Pray and by your life witness…”

Erin, the mother of Lucy, was a single young consecrated woman in the Caritas community before she married one of the sons of our founder. For many years she served the community as a single consecrated while she learned the way of Our Lady. She is now the mother of three little girls and her life’s purpose is to form her girls also in Our Lady’s way, that their hearts would be “filled with goodness” so that they will come to know and love God, their Father in Heaven. Every birth, every baptism, every life, throughout life, to our own cemetery—everything has meaning and purpose. Our Lady’s way gives meaning to life and the joy of life until the time of one’s final rest.

Little Faces watching

It was too much for all the little ones to sit still in their seats. At the baptism, they all wanted to be up close and to watch what was happening to their little baby brothers and sister. Standing between our priest on one side and the long baptismal gown of one of the babies on the other, they watched the baptism intensely. Though they did not comprehend what was taking place, they did know it was important and that this was a solemn occasion. They wanted to feel the water on their baby’s forehead, smell the potent chrism oil, hear what the priest was saying, and see how their own baby was going to react to all of this. Seeing that our children wanted to experience this event in whatever way they could, our priest made them feel a part of the whole celebration, sprinkling them with water, lifting the oil to their noses so they could get a good strong whiff of the perfumed aroma, explaining to them in simple language what was going to happen and stepping aside so they could get a better view.

Babies presented on the altar

After each baby was baptized, Father asked the parents to come forward and to place them on the altar. Here these babies sat on the very altar in which the Living God, Jesus Christ Himself comes down daily in the form of Bread and Wine.

A Friend of Medjugorje has said that,

“Everything in our daily life is structured into community to build memories. We have history together. Where today are the men who sit around and talk of history, stories, and memories? For the most part, today’s subjects are limited to football and things inconsequential to life. Where is history with each other? A trail of broken families, broken lives, memories in the making cut off before even being fulfilled. We are a fractured society cut off from the joy God wants for us.”

Girls watching on altar

It was a very moving scene, and it was here while they were still on the altar that Father raised his hand and gave a final blessing while little sisters stood on tippy toes to see what would happen next. We celebrate many things today too formally. Ceremonies have become so sterile in many cases that people begin looking at their watches the moment they sit down. Our Lady’s way has informal in the formal events themselves, with beauty interwoven throughout these spiritual events of the community. When finished you never give a thought of the time except where did it fly off to. The baptism was a two day affair, not a two hour event, even longer in preparation. It was something learned through Our Lady’s messages that we incorporate into life, traditions as a little village for the most important events in our lives. What is more important to life then receiving the Sacraments of the Church? Therefore, for every sacrament received in the community, it is a great occasion to be celebrated—and the celebration may last for days, while everything else stops by every community member.

Baby Boys presented

Father asked if these three will be future priests for the church one day. We responded, “Well, maybe two priests and a bishop.”

Pictured left to right: Jacob Jeremiah, Luke Paul and Bishop Augustine.

A Friend of Medjugorje said,

“Names are what remain after we are gone. We will hear our name through life more than any other word that identifies us. After our death, the name we wore in life will still be mentioned. What will be tagged on from life to your name when you are gone? You do not have to have an illustrious life or be great in something to become a great soul. You only have to love. Love is remembered in this life but also through all eternity. The living of Our Lady’s messages imprints in the soul with love a love that history cannot bury, a history of your life that continues not only on earth but forever, into eternity. On a tombstone near our home an etched statement says everything in a few short words:
‘Those who live in the hearts they leave behind never die.’

These are the words of wisdom that should guide every activity of our lives. Our Lady’s words teach us to be a witness. You are called to be what others wish to emulate in witnessing goodness.”

Papa Tony

Passing on the baton—First Generation, Papa Tony, the father of our founder, holds Fourth Generation, little Bishop, while wife, Mary, mother of our founder holds little Lucy behind him—their great grandchildren. These little babies come from a rich Catholic heritage rooted in a deep love of faith, family and country. Tony and Mary, just this year, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Multi-generational faithfulness in families is what satan attacked over his century of influence—and unfortunately he was successful. Our Lady has come to restake Her claim on all the families who have consecrated themselves to Her. Our Lady has said three generations under the same roof is pleasing to God.

Joshua and Avery

The social life of the community involves the children of the community being around young and older adults all day. The children love playing with each other, but they also love being with the adults and older youth. They know no matter who they are with, that they are wanted—that everyone is happy that they are there and that they have a contribution to make to the life of the community. As the picture shows, a Rosary is always nearby.

Joseph and Rachel

Walking into the Tabernacle of Our Lady’s Messages after the Baptism. In today’s society children, as well as the elderly, are separated from adult contact much of the day. In community, the inner action of all ages is every moment of the day. Visitors have often been impressed at the social interaction of all ages in the community, unlike society which puts all first graders together, all second graders together, and so on down the line. Training them through 12 years of spending most of their youth only with other children of the same age is a detriment to them, to the community, and society in which they live. It puts limits on youth who grow up into adults always interacting with just those in the same age block. This environment nurtures and creates an estrangement between one generation and another as not understanding each other. Even breeding an “us” versus “them” mentality rather than oneness.

3 Girls Running

After the Baptism, running up and down the asphalt path in front of the Tabernacle of Our Lady’s Messages. In a message from the Bedroom of Apparitions in our founder’s home, Our Lady through Marija said November 25, 1988:

“…Watch in vigil so that every encounter in prayer be the joy of your contact with God…”

In what greater way can one encounter God on this earth, than the innocence of children at play? It is through a life of prayer and sacrifice, that God grants these graces of joy, pure joy. In these three different pictures above, these little girls have one thing in common. Besides the white dresses, they are all carrying their shoes in their hands. It’s easier to run with no shoes on. All three pictures capture separately the joy of being raised with innocence where conversation is guarded, where certain subjects are never mentioned, an environment where kids are not subject to vileness, an environment which contradicts what schools are teaching kids today. Every event becomes an event of joy, not only for the children, but also for the adults that witness this youthful and innocent joy, in a way of life of truly a “contact with God.”

Community takink pictures

“A baby is God’s opinion that the world should go on.”

We did not write that quote, but we agree with it. We believe Our Lady is leading to a happy future—a future full of hope. But it is hope not as the world gives it—for the world has accepted a culture of death. Our Lady’s way is life. Babies bring life, joy, and future—but within the context in which God created them to be—within the family, a father as its king, a mother as its queen. Families together make community. Communities together make societies. Families, communities and societies—with Him, in Him, and through Him. This is what Our Lady has come to teach us.

A Friend of Medjugorje in a retreat once said:

“This is where She is leading us, along with giving a new way of life, a life closer to creation, closer to subsistence living, where one’s needs are met more directly by one’s own effort, less dependent on man with more dependence on God. For it is God who gives the water for man who plants the seed. Subsistence living where man asks for God’s help, replacing man’s way today of man’s dependence is upon man only.”

  1. All stories are comforting, enlightening and wholesome. Reading what Our Lady is saying fills me with love, hope and wanting to go to Caritas. I pray for that way of life. A simple, prayerful way of life. Blessings, Diane

  2. Hi Keep up the good work. There are some who may not agree with the church etc, but I believe that you have all done a good job. I would like to be informed of what is happening and hope that maybe one day I may have the opportunity to visit USA. God Bless Regards Cat

  3. Thank you for this lovely sharing. Never in my life has ever experience this kind of joy, not even in the church. This joy is truely alive here on earth! I can’t say I can’t believe it, cause I just saw it. Just seeing the picture brought me the peace and joy and love of God toward me. Thank you Caritas Community. I wish this kind heavenly life could also take place in Asia, a Continent where not even many people know about who God really is! Rose-Mary

  4. The most beautiful pictures I’ve seen for a while. But not only beautiful but sacraments with MEANING. I make sure that I go to a meaningful, spiritfilled Catholic church to experience the sacraments. We had 3 baptisms last Sunday at St. Joseph’s church, Zadar. Thank you again for updates on Sterrett. Rose

  5. Thank you very much for keeping us posted, inspired, fired up to fight for our freedom. You truly live Heaven here on Earth, a Seamless Life. A Life of Legacy, a Life of Great Purpose, a Life that is a Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, a Life through which Our Lady is glorified in all ways. Peace, Joy and Happiness for all of you and to us who share the “Caritas” of the mission.

  6. Kathleen Hoefert

May God continue to bless your community. My heart aches for this way of life (mother of nine children who are growing up and spreading across the country). What a blessing you have! Thank you so much for sharing. blessing, kathy

  7. Paz !

  8. Brigitte Hart

Caritas is truly the witness that Our Lady would like us to be. The joy in your words and pictures brought tears of joy to my eyes. How blessed we are by your example. Thank you for your dedication to our Lady. We pray that the world will convert through the fruits of your labor.

  9. I wish your pictures weren’t so blurry – the more I scroll down and see the pictures the blurrier they get. And the words need to be about one inch tall in bold as the more I scroll down the more the words disappear and become a black hodge podge. My kleenix box is empty so better go before I completely fall apart. You SURE know how to fire up hearts don’t you!!! My heart is SO happy for y’all.
