Worldwide Apparition Time Chart

When a Friend of Medjugorje first visited Medjugorje in 1986, he said that the moment of Our Lady’s apparition was so profound. Everyone knew exactly when and where Our Lady was appearing, even the demoniacs because they would begin howling at that exact moment, even if they were not close to the apparition. When that moment came each day, the thousands gathered around the area of the apparition dropped to their knees in total silence with their hearts uplifted in prayer and expectation of receiving Our Lady’s blessing. A Friend of Medjugorje said that the intensity of prayer could not be described; only experienced. The grace of that moment and of conversion was alive and tangible for every person. Standing at that moment 30 years ago, one should have been able to predict that for a grace that potent, satan would do everything in his power to diminish it, since he could not prevent Our Lady’s apparition from happening. And so, over time, that is what he did.

A Friend of Medjugorje saw the potency of apparition time diminishing year by year in the parish and amongst the pilgrims, until finally, the majority of people going to Medjugorje did not even realize Our Lady was still appearing at 6:40 p.m. every evening. Gone also is that profound moment of prayer with Our Lady where everyone in Medjugorje stopped to receive Her. We can say this with authority because we speak to people from all over the world in our Caritas Mission House in Medjugorje. It is the only place in Medjugorje where people can come and spend time speaking about the messages, the apparitions, and the plans of Our Lady. We have had many, many pilgrims come into the Mission House over the years who did not even know Our Lady was still appearing. Even a priest came in once and said he had pilgrimaged to Medjugorje three years in a row. When he was told Our Lady would be appearing that day, he was shocked, saying he thought the apparitions were over!!! That evening, a Friend of Medjugorje took him to Marija’s apparition. For that reason, a Friend of Medjugorje posted a very large sign on the side of the Caritas Mission House in Medjugorje, in eight different languages, with the following explanation of the time of Our Lady’s apparition. He wrote it to remind and exhort pilgrims to be on their knees to receive Our Lady’s blessing during Her moment of time on earth each evening.

 

Below is what appears on the sign in Medjugorje about the importance of honoring Our Lady’s apparition time.

No matter where you are in the world, even if you cannot be physically present at the site of an apparition of Our Lady or be in the village of Medjugorje, you can still receive Our Lady’s blessing each and every day by honoring the time of Her apparition. In doing so, you open yourself for greater graces for Her blessing upon yourself and your loved ones by being in a proper disposition in prayer and on your knees. Our Lady blesses every person on the earth during Her daily apparition, even if they do not even know She is appearing. However, the more you prepare your heart for Our Lady in prayer, the greater the degree to which you will receive the grace attached to Her blessing. In addition to receiving a greater grace through prayerful preparation, there are special graces available to those who can be in the village of Medjugorje during an apparition, and even more extra special graces for those who are in Our Lady’s physical presence at the actual site of the apparition when She appears and gives Her blessing.

Some have argued that being physically present for an apparition does not afford one any more grace than not being present. A Friend of Medjugorje, knowing the messages, with more than 30 years of cognition of the apparitions, strongly disagrees and has maintained for a long time that to be present at an apparition is special. You can receive particular graces there that are not available to those who are not present. A Friend of Medjugorje points to Our Lady’s gestures in Her mountain apparitions to Ivan’s prayer group as the most clear evidence of this reality. Beginning in August 2016, a seemingly small, but very important wording change began to appear when Ivan was describing the prayer group apparitions on Apparition Mountain. A Friend of Medjugorje noticed it. In particular, Ivan began to use the word “here,” when he described how Our Lady was praying. In describing these apparitions at the Blue Cross and on top of Apparition Mountain, Ivan repeatedly using phrases such as, Our Lady prayed over “us present here,” or prayed “over all of us here,” or prayed for those “who are sick present here,” or “She prayed here especially over those of you who are sick.” This choice of words to describe what Our Lady does during these apparitions highlights the heightened value of being physically present at the apparition.

Several experiences gave a Friend of Medjugorje the deep understanding that when Our Lady uses the word “here,” it means something. During Marija’s first visit to a Friend of Medjugorje and his wife’s home in Birmingham, Alabama, during 1988-1989, Our Lady appeared on Thanksgiving Day in the Field adjacent to their home, now known as the Field of Apparitions. Many people showed up in the Field on their own, leaving families and Thanksgiving plans behind on short notice. A Friend of Medjugorje and his wife and family had made many sacrifices with joy, and given all to Our Lady. One of the hateful persecutions leveled against them at that time was the accusation that a Friend of Medjugorje was trying to create something out of Marija’s visit. Some said that Our Lady was not doing anything special during the visit, but rather simply following Marija wherever Marija went. This persecution had reached a fevered pitch just prior to the Thanksgiving apparition.

In contradiction to this, it was Our Lady Herself who chose the location and the day. She marked the spot. And on that very special Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1988, Our Lady said:

“I invite you to live my messages. I am here to help you! I will intercede for you to God for all your intentions.”

The message stunned a Friend of Medjugorje and his wife, dissipated the persecutions, and gave confidence to a Friend of Medjugorje about the path he was taking. For everyone present, but for a Friend of Medjugorje in particular, through a grace received that day, they understood that when Our Lady said, “here,” She meant right there where they were, in the Field.

Five years later, Marija and her husband returned to Birmingham for a private visit. In that span of five years, a Friend of Medjugorje and his family, as well as the Community of Caritas, had experienced tremendous and hateful persecution. Many hateful, nasty things were leveled against a Friend of Medjugorje. As before in 1988, the persecutions had reached a fevered pitch, of such degree that a Friend of Medjugorje began to wonder whether he was on the wrong path. The apparition on the first day that Marija and Paolo arrived was in the Bedroom, and only a Friend of Medjugorje, his family, and Marija and Paolo were present. When Our Lady appeared on February 1, 1994, She came joyful, then She smiled, and gave a message:

“I am happy to be ‘here.’”

A Friend of Medjugorje and his wife melted. Our Lady contradicted all the hatefulness and slander. For them, Our Lady could not have said six more beautiful words. All the trials, sufferings, and nasty persecutions also melted with those words. Again, all present understood in a deeply profound way that when Our Lady said “here,” She meant right there, where they were, in the Bedroom on these holy grounds.

Through the 1988 – 1989 apparitions, tens of thousands visited the Bedroom of Apparitions and Field of Apparitions. After Marija left Alabama and before the Community of Caritas began to form, it was only a Friend of Medjugorje and his family kneeling and praying in the Field of Apparitions at apparition time. Later, Caritas made its fourth move to the Caritas house that was located across the street from the Field of Apparitions. The volunteers and those who worked for Caritas would pray the Rosary in the Field at apparition time. As the Community formed he built, even more strongly, its days around Our Lady’s apparition time. The Community stops every day, regardless of work schedule or weather conditions, to pray the rosary in the Field of Apparitions and to be on their knees to receive Our Lady while She is appearing on the earth. Therefore, every day consecutively for more than 30 years, Our Lady has blessed those on their knees in the Field of Apparitions. Since that first day when a Friend of Medjugorje decided to honor Our Lady’s apparition time in the Field every day in 1989, not a single day has been missed where someone was not in Field praying the Rosary for apparition time. Many people around the world want to do the same, but are uncertain about exactly when the apparition time is in their locality.

The Worldwide Apparition Time Chart, provided on Medjugorje.com, gives local times around the world that correspond to the actual apparition time of Our Lady in Medjugorje. No matter where you live you can know exactly when apparition time is each day and you can prepare your heart to receive Our Lady and Her blessing. A Friend of Medjugorje has wanted for a long time to have the world united at the same moment, increasing the graces the world can receive when Our Lady dispenses Her graces. Even if you do not have the possibility of praying an entire Rosary in preparation for Our Lady’s apparition, just giving Our Lady five minutes of your day at this moment will fill you with Her peace. A Friend of Medjugorje’s philosophy in regards to making available such a detailed apparition time chart is that many people will honor the time of Our Lady’s apparition if they simply know for certain the time of Her apparition in their time zone. As stated above, every person on the earth has the possibility of receiving Our Lady’s blessing each day, but not everyone will receive it to the same degree. That depends on how prepared your heart is each day and if you are properly disposed to receive the blessing. The more one prepares to receive Our Lady, the greater the grace they can receive from Her daily presence and Her daily blessing.

Our Lady appears throughout the whole year in Her daily apparition at the same moment of the day. It is man who has decided, through the creation and application of “Daylight Saving Time,” to change the “time” of the apparition. Therefore, we have created a “Summer” Apparition Time Chart and a “Winter” Apparition Time Chart to help you know when to honor the apparition time year-round. That being said, Our Lady does sometimes adjust the apparition time according to individual circumstances. For instance, Our Lady has frequently given different apparition times when appearing to visionary Marija in the Bedroom of Apparitions or the Field of Apparitions at Caritas, Alabama. However, the official time for Our Lady’s daily apparition is 6:40/5:40 p.m. (depending upon time of year and whether your country, state, etc., adopts to Daylight Saving Time) – both of these times are exactly the same “moment” of time, but as stated above, it is man who changed the “hour.”

SJP, 17th Edition, 2017. We used the above noted apparition dates for the purpose of providing specific examples of the use of the word “here,” but as noted in the main body of this article’s text, Ivan began to use the word “here” in describing the apparitions as early as August 21, 2006, as documented in Words From Heaven.

2. It is important to note that there is a “Special Blessing” given by Our Lady of Medjugorje that is different from the normal blessing She gives during each daily apparition to every person on the earth. Our Lady’s “Special Blessing” is not given as part of each daily apparition. When Our Lady gives the “Special Blessing” during an apparition, one must be present at the site of the apparition to receive it directly from Her.
