“No one can serve two masters. He will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life– what you shall eat or drink– or about your body– what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
“Look at the birds in the sky. They do not sow or reap. They gather nothing into barns, yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you more important than they? Can any of you, by worrying, add a single moment to your life span?
“Why are you anxious about clothes? Learn from the way the wildflowers grow. They do not work or spin. But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of them. If God so clothes the grass of the field, which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will He not much more provide for you, oh you of little faith?
“So do not worry and say, what are we to eat? Or what shall we drink? Or what are we to wear? All these things the pagans seek. Your Heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
“But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides. Do not worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own evil.”
This is Mejanomics with a Friend of Medjugorje.
[A FRIEND OF MEDJUGORJE]
Matthew 6, the Bible verse you just heard, is really misunderstood by many, many people.
And we’ve based a whole retirement plan, the way we live and what we do on God’s going to take care of everything. All I have to do is make this little plan and everything’s going to work out.
Well, it’s a human way of thinking. A human way of thinking is not always God’s way of thinking.
[COC I ANNOUNCER]
That was a Friend of Medjugorje from October 2010.
This is Radio Wave Mejanomics.
What you just heard is just one small example of how A Friend of Medjugorje has been gifted with the ability to change people’s mentalities.
That’s why Radio Wave Mejanomics is listened to in over 120 countries, and why A Friend of Medjugorje has a following in over 190 nations.
Many of you who are listening to this right now, you have come to greater understanding not just of the messages, but how to live every day from what a Friend of Medjugorje has been speaking through Radio Wave.
His most recent book, It Was Buried for 900 Years, is like a tsunami across the whole world. We were about to go into a second printing.
Just the other day we received a feedback from someone who ordered the book, read it, and then immediately turned right around and ordered in bulk to give away.
There are lots of times that you cannot explain a lot of the things that you have learned from a Friend of Medjugorje to people, but you can give them a book, like his most recent book, It was buried for 900 years.
You can share this broadcast with them. There are lots of things that you can do to spread the message.
Tonight’s broadcast comes to us from October 2010. A Friend of Medjugorje explains how we cannot blame the economy for our problems. We can only blame ourselves. The title of tonight’s broadcast is “You Can’t Escape Reality.”
Here is a Friend of Medjugorje.
[A FRIEND OF MEDJUGORJE]
We’ve spoken before that what God provides and what He gives is first through the kingdom of God, seeking it, not seeking my kingdom, not my retirement.
I’m amazed at the people that have fallen into the plan of retirement the way the culture does it, 55, 62 years of age, and thinking this is normal and this is right.
How’s man live forever?
I know where we stay in Medjugorje, the man who owns a pansion, Goyko, his father is right next door. And he never retired.
He slowed down. He made a garden. A lot of food we eat, he gardens. Papa Pero. And this is the way it used to be.
This new concept, “I’m gonna work to 55, I’m gonna work to 62, put all my money away and do this and live with this much money.”
That’s not first seeking the kingdom of God. This may be bitter words to you. Very bitter.
I’ve got an article someone just gave me, a newspaper clipping. It says,
“A growing number of Americans age 55 and older have put their retirement dreams on hold as they face dismal financial reality.
“The recession has forced many into unemployment, stripped away the years of their savings or dramatically reduced income during what they had hoped would be the high final earning years.
‘My generation thought that we would live on Easy Street,’ says Irene Forest, 61, who lives in the Chicago area. ‘All of a sudden, we’ve been hit hard.’
“Purich, who works at home as an advertising sales contractor for two magazines, saw her income drop 75% at the beginning of 2009 because of a decline of ad sales. With less money, she relied more on her credit cards, and the amount owed, she jumped 25%, she filed for bankruptcy.
‘I was backed into a corner and couldn’t pay the bill anymore,’ she says. ‘It was not the way I was raised. I felt I was a terrible person. But the economy has caused this. We’re paying the price.’”

This is garbage, total garbage. The economy didn’t cause this. The loss and the death of common sense caused this. Since when do we live by credit card? Since when do you lose your job and you start spending like everything’s going to get better?
We’re in denial. Look at what’s happening around you. Don’t think you’re just a flower in the field and everything’s going to be taken care of, the rain’s going to be brought to you and everything’s going to happen.
That flower is working, it’s generating, it feeds the bees its pollen. It’s an active work that it does, just like the bee actively works, just like the ant actively works.
God provides everything. But we’ve got a wrong mentality about what God means. “Well, I just got to trust in God.”
No, you’re not trusting God, you’re trusting in your retirement. You’re trusting in man, what he’s built, and you’ve been duped.
Many through ignorance, many through not understanding, many thought that they were doing the right thing.
But Our Lady’s come and telling us, pray, you lost your power of discernment. She also says satan divert you through modernism.
It’s not the way of civilizations of past and the culture of present, when it was a culture, it’s no longer that, it’s a dead culture, that we didn’t have 3 generations underneath the same roof, which Ivan said, Our Lady says is a great joy.
Like Papa Pero. Papa Pero walks around the grounds there. He takes care of what he can at his age. And when he needs to slow down or stop or go sit, he does.
He’s not in formal retirement, but he’s in retirement. The way man has always been in retirement.
Once I was in Medjugorje, went into a house with a friend. There was probably 10 Croatian people. There was a real wood stove, so the windows were fogged up. And there were people all around the table.
And as I was sitting there, they finally said after about 30 minutes that an American was here, and this was still Communist.
And in the corner of the room, which I didn’t see, was a little bed slat where an old man was on. He rose up to look at me. He was in the room because he was part of the family.
He wanted to hear the conversation. He was so old, he couldn’t be sitting down, but he was laying there. It really struck me, three generations under one roof.
But because of our selfishness and we want our retirement, we want our place on the beach, we want our plans, we want it the way we want it, you’re losing. And you’re losing big. And you haven’t seen anything yet. Anything.
If you get in trouble with your work or your job or its at risk, don’t go surviving on what you have. Put it into something. That’s the whole purpose of the Miraculous Medal Medjugorje round.
The same article goes on and says later, says,
“Also many parents in the 50s and 60s are supporting children who have graduated from college and haven’t found jobs.
“Quite a few individuals still pay for the kids’ apartments, rentals, car insurance. As a result, they don’t have much to save for their own retirements, or they use their emergency savings account.”
This is ludicrous. This is, you don’t give your children, another thing in this article, we talked about a 70-year-old spending his savings to help his son’s business. You don’t do that.
And this may be confusing people, but then what do you do? How do you do it with your kids? You create a way of life. Our Lady’s come to give us a way of life. And it’s the agrarian way of life.
↓ Share your thoughts – It helps bring people to conversion ↓
And if you’ve got any possibility of a chance at all getting toward it, you better run. I mean, you better run. Transitionally, you can’t do it today, but you can take whatever’s in the bank, you can take whatever’s in the stock market, you can take whatever 401k you got, cash it out.
If you got 100,000, it costs you penalties and penalties. You only got $50,000. Fifty-thousand dollars, take it, run with it, put it into the rounds.
Do you want to go and spend your money for survival, put it into something that’s there. You’ve got that. The dollar, you don’t have it, the stock market, you don’t have it.
It’s amazing that we know people that still have their money in the stock market. Go play Russian Roulette. It’s the same thing. You’re just waiting to kill your financial situation.
This is a move you can make to amend the wrong path you’re on. We’re on a wrong path. The concept of retirement, the concept of being surviving, paying for your children’s apartment, it’s crazy.
I’ve told my children, I’ll teach you how to fly, but I’m not going to fly for you. You get your house, you get your, you pay for it. Don’t come to me.
We’ve also got a way of life if they participate in that, or if you create a way of life, they can fall into that. But there’s a contribution to that. They have to work.
And first here, what we do and what God’s trying to get us to understand, every Thursday, we read it ourselves as a community in our auditorium this morning.
They’re putting up hundreds and hundreds of jars of tomatoes today and yesterday. I picked 170 boxes. I think we calculated 15,000 tomatoes. Whole community did it in a day. It’s our year supply of our fruit of our labor.
But we had to labor for that. The moms had the little kids up at 6 o’clock headed to the kitchen, at Caritas, all working together.
And they’ll spend a week on this and we’ll have a whole year’s of food. And that’s wealth. It’s not money, it’s not silver, it’s wealth. Because we can eat. And that’s what you need to be concerned about. How are you going to eat?
Apparently thinking denial can make the reality go away. And that’s what we’re doing right now. You still have a little interim to act. And I’ve said it, and I’ll say it again, that while the door’s open now and not everybody’s going through it, you can get through it. You can get into transitional means of exchanging every penny you got into the rounds, and then from there, put it into land, because that’s higher than the rounds.
And then the rounds are minted and that brings conversion. It Ain’t Gonna Happen will explain all that.
Massive borrowing is driving the national debt to unsustainable levels, unsustainable. What does it mean to you out there? Do you see what’s happening? Do you see?
“Look around you, children,” Our Lady says, “see the signs of the times.”
We’ve got a system that people have put their whole reliance on, not seeking the kingdom of God first, building an agrarian way of life, building the ability to feed themselves, getting out of debt, pay themselves, pay their houses off, or work all their life to pay the house off instead of having money.
See, they love money. I want money to have the high life, is what that lady says. Instead, we should have been building to have a house. Love your house. That’s what you need to be building your wealth for. Not sustainable. Think about that.
The system that we have is not sustainable. Social Security won’t work. It can’t work. The numbers aren’t there. If you are told 10 plus 10 makes 20 and somebody says, no, it makes 18, you say, no, it makes 20. This is what we’re doing.
We’re saying 10 plus 10 equals 18 or 2 plus 2 equals 3 instead of 2 plus 2 equals 4. The indicators of where we are, what is happening is 2 plus 2 plus 4. You can’t deny it.
You can say it’s 3, you can say it’s 5, you can do whatever you want to do to deny it, but you can’t escape reality. The numbers for Social Security, the people are supposed to be getting money from this can’t. In the years to come, it’s not there. The government is broke.
The nation, therefore, is broke because our people are broke. The county government’s broke, the city government’s broke, the towns. The money’s not there.
So, what’s going to happen when Social Security can’t be given to people? And they’re 70 years old, 68 years old, and they’ve never created any kind of system to take care of themselves?
Again, the lack of prayer made us blind. Our seeking and trusting and not seeking the kingdom of God, not seeking God’s way of life, faults us. This woman’s trying to blame the system.
But the economy has caused this and we’re paying the price.
What kind of benefit mentality is that? That’s what’s wrong with us. You are in error. It may be painful to say this. You might think I’m mean saying this. I’m giving you the facts. Wake up.
Do you understand what you’re headed to? How are you going to feed your parents when you were barely going to be able to feed yourself?
And your parents, how are you going to feed yourself when your total reliance is on the government?
That’s not American. That’s not our way. That may be some socialist way, but that’s not, and that’s slavery.
Our way is we’ve made our own bed, which is proverbial because we have made the bed now and people are waking up in it and it’s pretty miserable.
↓ Share your thoughts – It helps bring people to conversion ↓
But what are we going to do when Social Security’s not there and the money’s not there and you’re going to help somebody or your neighbor?
As soon as it looks like Calcutta, you just got to turn your head. The numbers will be so great. I mean, you’re literally going to have people starving to death.
And maybe because we’ve been so duped by the devil, maybe God will bring through Our Lady 12 baskets of fish that we can be eating miraculously because either that or we’re going to see starvation.
That’s the only way, I’m telling you people, this is the only way we will make it, if God does something divine. And do we deserve that? No, we don’t. Because our way of life doesn’t merit that. We are what our way of life is.
Our people are not so much protected by their armaments as they are their way of life. Our way of life protects us. Our Lady is trying to show us a way of life, a way of life in a new time. Her time, “this is my time.”
If you follow Her, She said, it will go well for you. “Live my messages so that it will go well for you.”
You can drop a bomb, you can start a war, you can have a volcano go off, you can have a tsunami hit, but you go crush ants in an ant bed and tell me how many still survive?
We got such an integrated world now, you bring down the financial systems, everybody, every ant in an ant bed is killed or damaged or hungry.
We’re in a serious moment and you’re not serious about it and you’re still thinking the mentality, “But the economy has caused this, and we’re paying the price.”
It shows where this woman’s mentality is, and she reflects all the culture. “They’re doing this to me.”
Why don’t you start putting stuff away and paying as you go? Why don’t you sacrifice and live in a tent for a year and buy your little plot of land, save all your money you made?
We’ve talked about this, young people, 20s, making $350,000 a year. If I’d made that when I was 20, or 18, I would have had land in a house that first year. I don’t mind going living in a tent.
Do it while you can. If you’re making a lot of money, consider that. Rent a little place of property, buy you a tent, live there for a year, save your whole income, put it in the Medjugorje rounds, put every penny of it in it, because that, as things go on, is increasing.
And then do it a second year. In 2 years, you’ll have your plot land that you own, and a small little cottage. If you’re making $60,000 a year, you’re crazy for not doing this.
You better do something now because we are out of time. Our Lady just told us the second month about the vision. I really, She said, wait. It was October message. Be patient. She speaks that. And then the next day at Sunday Mass, it says, wait for the vision. It still has time.
Our Lady’s telling us there’s a little time left, but you better use every moment. You better use yesterday. You don’t have today, nor do you have tomorrow. You have every day.
The decisions we make here, the decisions I’ve got at Caritas, the decisions I made 20 years ago were things I made for my future. Every decision I make each day is for the future, not for the present.
And people live for the present. Well, I got money today, I’m okay. I carry $1000 in my pocket. I’m okay.
We as a people have quit thinking. Everyone thinks for us. Nobody contemplates. Nobody reads.
I saw a sign once on a farm that said, “I own this land, someone owned it before me, someone owned it after me. I’m just a steward of it now.”
And that’s all we are. And you don’t have the right to go, if you’re worth millions, you don’t have the right to spend that money the way you want.
And if you only have a couple of dollars, you don’t have the right to spend it as you want there. You have a right to spend on the necessities, but when you have extra to spend things superficially or superfluous, you’re in sin.
God gives wealth, especially to people who’ve got the Bill Gates. But he didn’t give it to them for them to live a frivolous life. He gave it to be stewards of that, to help those who may only have a little bit.
And so, we’re drowning in a culture of self-gratification, self-indulgence. And when you go in self-indulgence, you get in trouble. Your marriage gets in trouble, your family gets in trouble, the nation gets in trouble.
And we have wealth even in our poor people, unimaginable 300 years ago, the way peasants lived. But I tell you, we’ll go back to that because the peasants were close to God. We’re headed back to that.
And you can make decisions now if you don’t want to be in denial of where you need to go with that. How do you use what you have now? What are you doing with it? There’s nothing wrong with saving. It’s not hoarding.
You know, the Bible says, be frugal. You can be very wealthy and be frugal. You don’t waste. The Bible also says, God despises a miser. A miser is somebody who won’t even feed himself because he’s got so much money.
I knew a man near where my in-laws lived that their roof had fell in a big ol’ house he had. It was on the older side of town, had big magnolias in the front yard. And this house caved in, the roof did.
So, he moved out into the yard. Years, years, he was just a real mysterious guy. My father-in-law talked to him. One day he died. They found out he had millions of dollars in the house. This is a miser. God despises being a miser.
On the other hand, and you can be a miser if you’re very poor. So, understand what God wants of you. He’ll provide for you. He’ll give everything for you.
If you think I’m scolding you, I am. We need to get scolded. Sometimes Our Lady scolds. But I don’t want you to lose hope. I’m not doing this to say there’s no hope.
Our Lady’s here, She’s got the answers for us. We package them, transform them. She can’t write a book and give it to us. We’ll reinterpret the wrong way.
But She can give one message, read Matthew 6 every Thursday. You can’t serve two masters, either God or mammon, God or money. And you can write a whole book on it to tell you practically how to put this into your life. There’s your answer.
One small message every Thursday and one book to give you all the practical aspects of how to incorporate that into your life.
People aren’t reading. You got to read. You got to throw the stupid TV out and you got to read. If you don’t read, you’re going to go out with the stupid TV. It’s just going to be that way.
And it’s just like this lady with this mentality. Just, you know, the government caused this, or we’re paying the price because of the economy.
You did that. You did it to yourself. Now, should you be down on yourself? No. Dust the feet off of you and get back on your feet.
You got youth right now going crazy in Europe because they’re cutting old pensions out and they’re not even in the pension system yet.
But you see, it’s this mentality, you owe me this. Nobody owes you anything. That’s the first premise you’ve got to come to a new mentality. I’m not owed anything. I can’t blame when I see it on anybody else. I’m going to stand in front of Jesus for my total responsibility.
Fiscally, you’re totally responsible for what you do and where you are. Now, that could be bad luck. That could be bad decisions. That could be not having the mentality financially to do it.
But we’ve gone along with the lie of the devil because he’s had a lot of candies along the way. And we bought into a bad system because of lack of prayer and entertainment that we go toward that rather than feeding our soul through good reading of the scriptures or prayer.
And read these things. They’re part of the blueprint of what you need to understand and have the proper mentality to see how ludicrous it is to blame the economy on your situation when you should have been doing things 20 years ago, 25 years ago, and things you can do today.
You’ve got to get into these things to be able to be free to be Our Lady’s apostle. That’s Her goal. She wants us to be free to help people and say, this is the way we walked. This is the way you’ll need to walk.
You take, I don’t care if it’s $1,000 or $500, and you start putting something aside. And if you’ve got a good job right now, really be radical. People think you’re nuts, but who cares? You’ll have something and get to a system where you can go from your own soil and grow that tomato and that tomato go to your own mouth.
You need to bypass the system. No sales tax, nobody lording over you, nobody saying, this is the price I’m gonna charge you for this.
You grow your own wealth. You can do that. If you can have a roof over your head, and if that means a tent for a year or two, I’d run to it. I’m telling you, I did that. I practically did that. But anyway, this is enough to give you thoughts. We’ll be talking to you. We wish you Our Lady. We love you.

To answer your question, a Friend of Medjugorje mentions several things in this broadcast that can be called “modernism” :
– Not trusting in God, but trusting in your retirement. Trusting in what man has built.
– Culture vs. Civilization. Times past was “culture” with three generations under one roof. Today it is everyone for themselves.
– Parents who give their children money instead of giving them a “way of life.”
– Relying on the grocery store for all your food instead of “getting your food from your ground to your mouth.”All of these are examples of what can be called modernism.
