Prayer Opens the Door

Prayer Opens the Door

“…Years ago, we were coming to Philadelphia… and I would come here and pray behind Independence Hall, to just say the Rosary. It would be in the daytime, and I didn’t care. I wasn’t concerned with people walking around. I was here because I wanted to pray and do what Our Lady asked to do… as that happened everyday, I would come here at apparition time by myself, and I began to understand certain things that I never understood before. But, prayer opens the door to things in your heart that you don’t know until the Holy Spirit gives it to you…”

A Friend of Medjugorje
Speaking from Independence Hall
Philadelphia, PA, October 15, 2016

In the excerpt above, a Friend of Medjugorje was telling of over 23 years ago. We have the view of history to know what was birthed through the Holy Spirit from the hours spent praying at Independence Hall. Just to name a few, the Patriotic Rosary was birthed from this very place, kneeling in prayer. What continued to flow through the years from what the Holy Spirit gave in prayer was: American History You Never Learned. In the same year, Friend of Medjugorje wrote The Seven Novenas for the Reconciling of Ourselves, Our Families and Nation Back to God, a novena where literally millions of prayers have resulted, as well as other movements that have since sprung up. The writings, Two Americas, Changing History, Something in the Air, A Miracle from the Field, Sacred Bond, Great Deeds, and more recently the books, Look What Happened While You Were Sleeping and They Fired the First Shot 2012, are just naming a few of the more known writings that have resulted from the hours that a Friend of Medjugorje spent on his knees before this holy building, rightly named, Independence Hall.

So it was with great anticipation that we gathered on October 15, 2016, for this historic event, for the first public Patriotic Rosary* prayed at Independence Hall, from the place where the United States of America was birthed, as well as where the Patriotic Rosary itself was birthed. This being a very significant election year, in the 99th year of the apparitions of Fatima, in the Holy Year of Mercy, we expected there to be great graces resulting because of this prayer gathering. Many people called and wrote to us that they were in union from their own hometowns, praying at the same time as we were praying. Another significant aspect, especially since it was not planned but happened through a holy coincidence, was that there were also 15,000 Rosary Rallies being prayed throughout the United States, with many of the rallies praying the Patriotic Rosary. From large gatherings, to people gathering with the prayer group of their family, the union of prayer this day we know will result in an effect.

“…We have formed a prayer group here at our parish and every Wednesday night say the Patriotic Rosary ever since we were at Caritas and Our Lady requested that we form prayer groups! Our priest has called for a rosary crusade outside in front of Sacred Heart Church for Oct. 15 at 10 AM for the conversion of our country, at the same time you will be in Pennsylvania, so we will join through prayer! Thank You for everything you do! Hope to get down there again soon! Love and God Bless You All.”

Day 1- Thursday, October 13, 2016 – The Caritas truck, en route to Independence Hall, Philadelphia

Twenty-eight members of the Community of Caritas left Alabama at 2:00 A.M. Thursday October 13th, travelling across 7 states, almost 1000 miles, arriving 20 hours later at Independence Hall Thursday evening, evangelizing Medjugorje along the way.

Day 2 – Friday, October 14, 2016 – Our Lady of Victory Schoolhouse, the Caritas Community school, walks in the footsteps of the Founders

The old brick building with a church-like steeple stands as more than a building for those who prayerfully reflect. The first floor of the left wing was the courthouse. The first floor of the right wing, with the American flag at its roof, was where the meeting of rebels and patriots took place.

Inside Independence Hall, the Room of Our Nation’s Birth

A Friend of Medjugorje spoke to the Community of Caritas before entering Independence Hall, reflecting on the sacredness of the ground we were about to walk upon:

“It was here that the United States was conceived, not by men, but through the Holy Spirit, Who descended into this room to birth a nation.”

With George Washington seated before them at the Constitutional Convention, the founders from each of the states together in this room in the hot summer of 1787 had entered into a deadlock, unable to reach a decision for five weeks. Seeing the continuation of the United States was in peril, 11 years after the Declaration of Independence was signed, 81 year-old Dr. Benjamin Franklin stood before George Washington and the other founders and pleaded for prayer that God might intervene to bring forth this nation. Benjamin Franklin stated: “If a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?” With intense prayers put forth, the Holy Spirit entered into the hall and the Constitutional deadlock was broken.

 A rising, or setting sun?

One story told by the park ranger was about George Washington’s chair. Pictured here is the back of George Washington’s chair shown in the picture above. The chair is held as a sacred relic in which no one is allowed to sit upon. During the weeks of discussion, Benjamin Franklin was distracted by one thought – the meaning of the engraved sun on the back of Washington’s chair. Was it a rising sun or a setting sun for our nation? He finally concluded it was a rising sun, symbolizing the rising of the new nation.

How much more sacred will the relics of Medjugorje be over which Our Lady has appeared, coming as the Woman “clothed in the sun” to rise up apostles who will rebirth Christianity upon the earth, not in one nation, but all nations.

The Caritas Community praying the apparition time Rosary behind Independence Hall, on Friday, October 14, 2016

It was here, beneath this statue at the back of Independence Hall, that the Patriotic Rosary was birthed through a Friend of Medjugorje, who knelt in prayer here contemplating the role of the Divine that entered into real time to bring forth the United States of America as no other nation.

A guard, joining us in prayer during our Rosary on Friday, October 14, 2016

The Community knelt together in prayerful reflection while many looked on. One woman, whose husband had asked a Community member what was going on, walked over and knelt beside a Friend of Medjugorje, not knowing who he was. She leaned over and asked him, “can I pray an ‘Our Father’ with you?” As she started to pray, tears began to fall down her cheeks. After ten minutes of prayer, she walked away, wiping tears still flowing from her face. One of the security guards, pictured above, nearby also was moved to join in prayer.

Independence Hall

Special Notice: Those traveling through Philadelphia, or even within several hours driving distance, are encouraged to stop and pray the Patriotic Rosary at Independence Hall. It is important to be praying as much as possible during this time for our nation. The arrow on the map to the right, shows directly behind Independence Hall. There is a statue of Commodore Barry, the father of the U.S. Navy, who was a Catholic patriotic. This is the place where a Friend of Medjugorje spent many hours on his knees in prayer. People who we have taken a Friend of Medjugorje’s advice in praying there have relayed to us that they felt a very powerful grace in doing so.

  1. May Our Dear Lord JESUS continue to Bless USA the universal defender of Democracy & Freedom. I also joined in prayers for the same cause. GOD BLESS YOU ALL. Fernando from Colombo, Sri Lanka(Ceylon)

  2. At noon on October 15th I prayed the rosary and other prayers, along with a group of people outside of St Helen’s Church in Vero Beach and I prayed at 200pm the Patriotic Rosary in my home and exactly at 300pm prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet thinking and praying for you all there in Philadelphia.

  3. What an incredibly moving scene! What you are doing at Caritas is truly directed by God, Himself. I have been praying so hard that God will grace our nation with a new president who cares about our Country, not power. We all know that only one of the candidates fits that role. I hope everyone in our great country is praying for a new, corageous leader who, with the help of true Americans, will save our country from the clutches of satan

  4. I am so inspired and encouraged to know what, where and why you are praying there! I feel sad that I haven’t kept up with your website because I could have been praying from home. Please know that I will pray in union with you from today forward. Please pray for me as I go through a surgical healing time and offer it up for your holy work for our Lady, Queen of Peace. In God we trust!

  5. We are together in prayer. Jesus said He will never leave us to the end of time. Mary the Mother of our Lord and our mother intercede for us. All the saints in heaven pray for us. Amen.

  6. We as a nation have turned our backs of God and now that we are in so much trouble we look to Him once again for help just like after 9/11. We all need to bring Him back into our lives and our nation once again and keep Him there and we need to pray like never before for this election that we are about to enter. We as Christians will suffer as we enter an election where we could all suffer from those who hate Christians and what and who we stand for, God.

The message is very inspiring. I fasted for the 9 day which is something I thought I could never do but if not by the HOLY SPIRIT I NEVER WOULD HAVE MADE IT. Thank you JESUS CHRIST our HEAVENLY FATHER and HOLY SPIRIT.

  8. May God continue to Bless the United States and have mercy on all of us. I pray that all might have their eyes opened by the presence of God. Thank you for sharing this message of faith and on my going prayers to all.
