Your Petition in Our Lady’s Presence
Once Medjugorje visionary Marija was with a group of about 40 people on retreat in the mid-1980’s. Our Lady appeared and instructed Marija to tell them all that She wanted them to write Her a letter for whatever their intentions or needs were. She instructed them to write from the heart and to write it to Her during the apparition.
Later, Our Lady again appeared, and they began to write, pouring out their hearts to their Mother. They wrote of their love for Her, the seeking of forgiveness, petitions for a grace, asking for their needs, the needs of their loved ones, and every thought that sprung from the heart. They were very surprised when, as they continued to write to Our Lady, She stayed until they finished their letters. One by one, as they completed their letters, they would walk up and place their petition at Our Lady’s feet, all the while She kept appearing, waiting patiently for them to finish. When the last person finished Our Lady ended the apparition. To their great joy Marija was transfixed in ecstasy the whole time while Our Lady appeared for 45 minutes!
Marija has said Our Lady wants to change our mentalities. This action of Our Lady waiting for the letters speaks loud and clear that She wants you to ask for graces through prayer, and not only to speak your needs and desires but also to write them down. Writing out your intentions sparks deeper thought, comes deeper from the heart, and brings more clarity to you when you thoughtfully put more time into your petitions. Our Lady clearly wants Her children to have this mentality about writing to Her. She has even said She would still be listening with Her heart when the Medjugorje apparitions are over.
“… My eyes and my heart will be here, even when I will no longer appear…”
The Community of Caritas learned this Medjugorje lesson in an apparition with Marija on August 13, 2003. The Community was on “vacation” with Marija in Florida, and when our founder asked Our Lady through Marija what time She would appear during these days, instead of choosing the normal apparition time, Our Lady smiled and said:
“Because it is your vacation, I will come whenever you pray.”
So on August 13th, they all decided to write Our Lady a letter from the heart. Even the little children participated. They felt peace and particularly Our Lady’s presence. It could also be described as exciting. They finished their petitions and began to pray the rosary for the apparition. When Our Lady came, each community member went up one by one and laid their petitions at Our Lady’s feet.
This took some time, and it became obvious Our Lady stayed longer than usual. It brought great joy in their hearts as they realized She was staying until they finished placing the petitions at Her feet. Only after everyone had come up and placed their letter did Our Lady finish the apparition and leave. This was a great joy for them, but an even bigger joy awaited them.
Marija said Our Lady just stood there sweetly watching them as each one came up to give the letter written with love to Her. Then Marija said Our Lady gave a message. Our Lady said:
“I wish to give you graces. Ask for them.”
They were awed by this. They were moved deeply, that Our Lady was pleased and encouraged their actions by actually giving a message precisely about what they were doing! It is not only important to pray to Our Lady, but She clearly wanted them to write down their petitions. John Paul II placed a written petition on the Wailing Wall when visiting Israel. How much greater is the grace afforded to us when we write out a petition to be placed at the Holy Sites where Our Lady has appeared, where they will be prayed over, and then presented at Our Lady’s feet during Her apparition in Medjugorje?
You may send a petition to Caritas, and when it arrives, your petition will go through a 6-step process. At the last step, your petition will have been prayed over twice by the community in the Bedroom and the Field, and finally it will end up in the presence of Our Lady. This is a great grace that we can actually write to Our Lady. No other generation before us has been given such a grace. Our Lady said:
“…this is a time of grace which God gives you. Use this time and seek the grace…”
This is indeed a very special time. Use “send a petition” as often as you like. Encourage others in need or in crisis to do what Our Lady Herself told the community:
“I wish to give you graces. Ask for them.”
The “send a petition” is a lot of work for us at Caritas, but we will give our effort to make this available as a work of love so that your words can be addressed to Our Lady, so more people will grow in the love of their Mother. We hope in this time of grace you will take this unprecedented opportunity to be close to Our Lady. You can also attach a rose for Our Lady to your petition and have it placed in the Bedroom or Field. However, this is separate from sending your petition. They are two different buttons.
It is important that you understand we do not read any petitions sent in through “send a petition.”

The Bedroom of Apparitions is the primary apparition site at Caritas of Birmingham, located in the home of the Founder of Caritas, where more than 120 apparitions have taken place over the past 22 years from November, 1988 up until the most recent apparitions in July, 2009. Our Lady desires to rebirth holiness in the family and to heal the family, which explains the significance and importance of Our Lady€™s apparitions in the Bedroom. Through the healing of the family, nations will return to God, one family at a time. The Caritas Community comes together once a month to pray together in the Bedroom of Apparitions for your intentions. Your petitions are laid upon the Bed where Our Lady’s apparitions take place during the times Marija is present.
The Field of Apparitions is located at Caritas of Birmingham where Our Lady has appeared 30 times, from November 24, 1988 until the most recent apparitions, July 4, 2009. The first time Our Lady appeared in the Field She said, “I am here to help you! I will intercede for you to God for all your intentions.” The Community of Caritas prays the Rosary everyday in the Field at the same time Our Lady is appearing in Medjugorje. It is during this Rosary the community intercedes for your petitions and intentions as they are presented to Our Lady and placed at the foot of Her statue in the Field.
The Chapel of Two Hearts is Medjugorje visionary Marija Lunetti’s private chapel. When Marija is in Medjugorje, this is where her daily apparitions take place. Your petitions are carried to Medjugorje and placed at the foot of Our Lady’s statue where Marija kneels for every apparition. Marija presents your names and petitions to Our Lady during the apparition.
