A piece of Heaven was found in the midst of corporate America as a major hotel in Nashville proclaims the Truth of the Season…
Christmas Eve
December 24, 2013 A.D.
A piece of Heaven was found in the midst of corporate America as a major hotel in Nashville proclaims the Truth of the Season. The Community of Caritas took a short Evangelization Christmas Trip to Nashville a few days ago. The last night of our trip brought about an experience of wonder and something to reflect upon this Christmas Eve.
It was a beautiful sight outside the Opryland Hotel in Nashville as guests and visitors were welcomed by a large nativity. Unafraid to proclaim the reason for the season, the large nativity drew families and individuals, suspending time and causing reflection on Jesus’ birth. Through the night air, the Bible story was heard proclaiming the events and captivating passersby. The grounds, surrounded by millions of lights with a reading of the Christmas Scripture; a beautiful reflection of placing yourself among the stable scene 2000 years ago was easily attained.
“Joseph takes the wide mantle of soft dark blue wool, he double folds it and lays it on the hay, leaving a strip hanging out of the manger. The first bed for the Savior is ready.
And the Mother, with Her sweet, graceful gait, moves to the manger, lays Him in it, and covers Him with the strip of Her mantle. She arranges it also around His bare head, almost completely covered by the hay, from which it is protected only by Mary’s thin veil. Only His little face, the size of a man’s fist, is left uncovered. Mary and Joseph, bending over the manger, are blissfully happy watching Him sleep His first sleep, because the warmth of the clothes and of the hay has appeased His crying, and made Him sleepy.”
Poem of the Man-God, Vol. 1
The Scripture, large than life, unabashedly stands 3 feet tall, by 4 feet wide around the nativity scene.
The symbol of the Christmas season, the Nativity, stands in stark contrast to the materialistic “joy” of Corporate America. A Friend of Medjugorje wrote in 2010:
“The world is rejecting Jesus. It is happening through the courts, the choice of entertainments and lifestyles, in government and politics. In virtually every aspect of society, Jesus is being rejected. But Truth’s light will drive away all darkness.”
Laughter filled the air as the Community of Caritas old and young played under the lit trees near the Nativity. Two of the youth began spinning under the giant “Christmas trees” looking up in wonder at the beauty of the lights dancing in the night sky as they spun, a Heavenly sight. Joy and laughter filled the air as one by one community youth and adults spun, arms extended under the trees. Created for wonder. God, the Creator’s wonder in the midst of man-made corporate America, who unembarrassed quote Scripture, speaking of Jesus on their grounds. It was very comforting to see a company that has not caved in to being labeled “offensive” by speaking publicly through this larger than life nativity.
“…Little children, rejoice in God the Creator because He has created you so wonderfully. Pray that your life be a joyful thanksgiving, which flows out of your heart like a river of joy…”
This Christmas season may you look to the Holy Family to give you strength, joy, peace, and love. On behalf of the Community of Caritas, may you each have a very blessed and holy “Mary” “Christ” “Mass”!
