The Paths through the Vineyards

In the early years of the apparitions, especially when the Communists were so involved in trying to stop the children, there were many apparitions that did take place in the fields and vineyards, as the visionaries had to hide from the authorities. As Medjugorje continues to grow and change from the small village it once was to a small city, you can still experience the peace and simplicity of the life the Croatians once lived when Our Lady first began appearing, when in the fields and on the dirt paths. Though many groups have gone the path of convenience and ease with taking taxis and buses everywhere, we know too many stories of encounters people have had with Our Lady on these dirt paths, to direct our pilgrims in any other way. Walking allows meditation and prayer and can make a world of difference in your pilgrimage. Walking is a major factor to a good pilgrimage. By the charter of Her messages, we are certain Our Lady wants these paths walked in the symbol of the Trinity She established by appearing on Apparition Mountain. From Apparition Mountain, to Cross Mountain, to St. James Church and back to Apparition Mountain again, a triangle is formed and the holiest way to get to these sites is by way of the trails.
