One of the remarkable things which a Friend of Medjugorje has propagated throughout the world, is the knowledge that Our Lady in Medjugorje revealed parts of Her life to the visionaries.  What a Friend of Medjugorje discovered, was that Our Lady asked the visionaries to record the stories of Her life as She told them.  The information told to them cannot be publicized until Our Lady gives them authorization to do so.

 

Visionary Jakov Colo received information until April 1983; Ivanka Ivankovic, until May 22, 1983; and Marija Pavlovic, until July 17, 1983.

 

In the summer of 1989, Medjugorje visionary Marija told a Friend of Medjugorje that what Our Lady showed her about Her life, was only to help her (Marija) in her own life.  Years later, Medjugorje visionary Marija and a Friend of Medjugorje were together.  A Friend of Medjugorje saw Marija making a string Rosary with her fingers.  Because it looked like Marija was weaving, it sparked some questions.  Following is their dialogue as told by a Friend of Medjugorje:

 

A Friend of Medjugorje:  “Did Our Lady like things like this (weaving)?”

 

Marija:  “Yes.”

 

A Friend of Medjugorje:   “Has Our Lady ever shown you or told you anything about Her private life with Joseph?”

 

Marija:  “Yes.”

 

A Friend of Medjugorje:  “Can you tell anything about what Our Lady told you?”

 

Marija:  “No. It was just for me, to help me in my life.

 

Vicka Ivankovic is the Medjugorje visionary to whom Our Lady chose to reveal the greatest part of Her life story, along with Mirjana Soldo.  Though all the Medjugorje visionaries were given glimpses of Our Lady’s life on Earth, it was given for them only, to help them in their life, but not to be shared.  But to Vicka, and also to Ivanka to a lesser degree, Our Lady instructed her to keep a careful record of these special dictations, given from January 7, 1982, to April 10, 1985.  The dictations filled three notebooks.¹

 

Vicka is not allowed to show anyone the notebooks that contain Our Lady’s life story until she receives from Our Lady the date upon which they can be released.

 

In June 1988, a Friend of Medjugorje filmed and recorded visionary Mirjana Soldo.  Here is what Mirjana said to a Friend of Medjugorje about her role in recording Our Lady’s life story:

 

“She did not dictate it (Her life), She just told us Her life together with apparitions, what happened in Her life, what She experienced, and I kept writing it in my diary for a time to publish it, because so little is known about Mary’s life.  I don’t know when I will publish it, it depends on Mary not me.”²

Our Lady’s Life and the Connection to a Secret Prayer

 

A special note, is that visionaries Mirjana and Vicka were also given a special prayer, taught by Our Lady for nonbelievers.  Mirjana revealed this to a Friend of Medjugorje during a recorded interview in 1988, and again in a recorded interview in 1996.  Our Lady taught this prayer to Mirjana (as well as to visionary Vicka).  Our Lady defined a non-believer as someone who has not known or experienced the love of God.  Mirjana and Vicka are the only two visionaries who were given knowledge of this secret prayer.

 

During the recorded interview in 1988, Mirjana told a Friend of Medjugorje the following:

 

“Every second of the month, I don’t see Our Lady, but we pray together for unbelievers. We pray special rosaries. They are not these rosaries we pray (Mirjana means the regular rosary), for, of course, Our Lady does not pray the Hail Mary. We pray the (secret) prayers which are going to be in the book about Her life.  These prayers, are in this book (about Our Lady’s life). So, each month we pray three such rosaries for unbelievers.”³

 

Through what Mirjana told a Friend of Medjugorje, we discover the secret prayers for nonbelievers, will be in the book about Our Lady’s life.  However, it is not known whether the secret prayers will be released separately from the book about Our Lady’s life or only when the book is released.  When Our Lady gives permission for these prayers to be released, we, as believers will also have the grace to learn and pray these new prayers for nonbelievers.  A Friend of Medjugorje said, about these secret prayers:

 

“When this (prayer) is released, there is going to be some kind of great wave, sweep through the whole world, and nonbelievers will experience somehow, [in a way] we don’t understand how, the presence of the love of God.  Many of them will taste God’s love for the first time, because they never had it, either from their parents or through their family life, or the destruction of their family.  Whoever they are, they will experience something of a supernatural grace, or something along those lines. We don’t have the details, but I did talk to Mirjana enough to get that understanding.”⁴

 

Mirjana told a Friend of Medjugorje during the interview, that this prayer is something like the Rosary, meaning that there are beads that one holds in their hand and follows with their fingers.  As stated, Mirjana already prays this prayer with Our Lady in their visits together.  A Friend of Medjugorje devoted an entire book to the topic of these special prayers for nonbelievers in the book, Medjugorje: Mirjana, A Mystery is Revealed.

Why Do We Need to Know About Our Lady’s Life?

 

In the early 1990’s, a woman called a Friend of Medjugorje. She was not Catholic. Her son had died in a car accident.  As a grieving mother, she was trying to find some kind of solace to her pain.  What she relayed was that, at the funeral of her son, she saw a wreath of flowers. In the middle of the wreath was a statue of Our Lady.  When the woman saw the statue of Our Lady, she immediately made the connection with Our Lady as a mother who lost her son.  She told her husband she wanted that statue.  It became a great consolation to her, and she began to pray to Our Lady, through which she received great help.  A Friend of Medjugorje guided her and her husband throughout the following years, and they died as consoled believers many years later.  In the 40 years of mission work, a Friend of Medjugorje has come across countless people who, through life circumstances, needed someone to relate to.  He understood that Our Lady’s life circumstances are something that many people could relate to.  He has taken up more of this topic in a book which is coming out soon, and which shows that Our Lady has a connection to many different faiths.

 

What Has Our Lady Revealed About Her Life in Public Messages?

 

Regarding Our Lady’s life, following are some of what She has said in public messages in Medjugorje⁵:

 

“Dear children, who could speak to you about the love and the pain of my Son better than I? I lived with Him; I suffered with Him. Living the earthly life I felt pain because I was a mother…” September 2, 2017

 

“…as a mother I know that you thirst for consolation, hope and protection. You, my children, consciously and unconsciously are seeking my Son. I also, as I passed the time on earth, rejoiced, suffered and patiently endured pains, until my Son, in all His glory, removed them. And that is why I am saying to my Son: help them always…” March 18, 2017

 

“…I lived your earthly life. I know that it is not always easy, but if you will love each other, you will pray with the heart, you will reach spiritual heights and the way to Heaven will be opened for you…” September 2, 2015

 

“…I, my children, know you. I know your pain and suffering because I lived through them. I laugh with you in your joy and I cry with you in your pain. I will never leave you. I will always speak to you with motherly tenderness…” May 2, 2015

 

“…I am here among you as a mother who desires to help you come to know the truth. While I lived your life on earth I had knowledge of the truth, and by this alone, a piece of Heaven on earth. That is why I desire the same for you, my children…” January 2, 2015

 

“…I am a mother who understands you. I lived your life and lived through your sufferings and joys…” November 2, 2014

What is the importance of knowing about Our Lady’s life and the connection to Her messages? 

 

A Friend of Medjugorje reveals that Our Lady’s Medjugorje messages are Her advice, Her direction on how She Herself lived.  Knowing this, we can understand how to view the world, when we follow Her Medjugorje messages.  He wrote the following about the November 2, 2014, message of Our Lady quoted above, in a writing titled, “How Can You Understand ‘I lived your life’” and it helps to understand more:

 

“…Our Lady’s messages are for everything happening in the world and how to look at it…Some may think applying Our Lady’s messages to everything in life and the world as an error.  Some think Our Lady’s messages must be only about prayer, etc., not infectious diseases, government, laws, etc.  This is a result of a limited capacity thinking, and a minimizing of Our Lady’s messages, constricting them to only your knowledge instead of being open to being illuminated.  A mentality, as such, has not the capacity to be open to understanding how broad and all-encompassing Our Lady’s messages are.  They are to change the world.  The way we interpret the messages is the way we will course the world’s future, changing its direction.”⁶

 

A Friend of Medjugorje has been standalone in this belief of the necessity of the messages to be able to “read” the current world.  His understanding is that Our Lady’s messages are a glimpse into Our Lady’s mentality, the way She thinks and views things, etc. No one in the Medjugorje world has embraced the messages of Medjugorje to the degree as he has. It is why he has said, “Those who think they do not need Medjugorje, are the ones who need it most.”⁷

 

As a confirmation of the above words by a Friend of Medjugorje, that the messages of Our Lady direct our lives in every area, according to the way She would have lived, visionary Vicka revealed in one interview, what would be the title of the book on Our Lady’s life. The name:  Life.⁸
