“And all who believed were together and had all things in common; and they sold their possessions and goods and distributed them to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending temple together and breaking bread in their home, they partook of food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.”
Acts 2:42-47
…It is Now in Our Lady’s Time
As the early Christians came together to grow and foster their new faith and be strengthened against the culture’s downfall and so that their little lights could be put together to create a great flaming torch pointing to the Christ, so too has His Mother, in this time, called Her apostles to do the same. Amidst the aridity of today’s society, standing in contrast to the modern technological world, striving to live a life of purposeful love in society’s atmosphere of apathy, a Community exists, beckoning others to return to the Truth, through the hands of Truth’s Mother.
The Community of Caritas is a unique, one-of-a-kind community, distinctly different from the world and other communities around the world, not because of anything created or formed by man, but because it is the creation of Our Lady, Queen of Peace, Herself, who asked for it to be established. A beautiful love story began with Our Lady and the founder (he considers himself the ‘co’-founder) of the Community of Caritas in 1986, and the chapters are still unfolding. As Peter and the apostles saw the need to be together, the founder, a Friend of Medjugorje, had in his heart the “ingredients ready in his kitchen” so that when The Mother asked for Her apostles to do the same, he was ready to follow the “recipe.” Her call to a Friend of Medjugorje to “establish a community here,” came in 1988. Twenty-five years later, after guiding Her community to firmly implement “a way,” Her way, She extended the call to the world; She then had a window for others to look through. On June 25, 2013 She said:
“I, as a mother, desire my children to be in a community of one single people where the Word of God is listened to and carried out…(Mirjana said that Our Lady said this line resolutely and with emphasis)”
Again, in the same year, on October 2, 2013 Our Lady said:
“…I wait for your love and unity. I pray that you may be a community of God’s children, of my children. I pray that as a community you may joyfully come back to life in the faith and in the love of my Son…”
Life in community is beautiful, yes. It is a joy, yes. It is a place of unity and hope for the future and a dream world in which to raise kids, yes. But it is not a bed of roses. It requires prayer, much prayer, and sacrifice. It requires a decision and a firm resolve. All these things a Friend of Medjugorje possessed and has instilled in the community.
Milona Von Habsburg, former Duchess of Austria who gave up her worldly position to follow Our Lady of Medjugorje, after spending some time in the Oasis of Peace, a community devoted to Our Lady of Medjugorje, told the founder of the Community of Caritas when speaking about community life, “It is beautiful to see people enter into community and die.” The founder of the Community of Caritas knew exactly what she meant. In her words, she captured the very essence of community life. What Milona meant was that those entering into community life die to themselves a little each day. They die to their will, their desires, their wants and they slowly come to life, living for others. The true Christian spirit of the beginning Christian Church arises. It is death in order to bring life.
Many who visit Medjugorje.com have no idea that a community of like-minded people is behind this massive website. Many others do know of it, and have been begging to know more. We are beginning. Today’s launch is a peek into our life. The new Community of Caritas page was not originally part of what was to be on the new Mej v3.0. The Holy Spirit granted extra time, and urged us to put this information out there because it is time. The following barely scratches the surface of our life. Repeating the words of a Friend of Medjugorje, “We are nobodies, we are sinners, we are worse than you who are not here.” But we have said, “yes,” despite the thorns and crosses, and the fruit, though bitter at times, is filled with sweetness. A Friend of Medjugorje has blazed the trail following Our Lady. The Community of Caritas has been following in his footsteps on that trail and we now invite you, on his behalf, to take the first step.
