Along with the new book-binding system, a new paper cutter and folding machines also arrived, and are placed within the new addition of the print shop. New equipment also means more efficient technologies that are going to be placed at Our Lady of Medjugorje’s fingertips. In the life of the community, we do everything towards simplicity, and avoid that which would complicate our lives. That means we do not utilize a lot of the technologies that are common place today such as home computers, cell phones and televisions, none of which are in our homes, nor are cell phones used in our mission or homes. However, when it comes to Our Lady of Medjugorje’s mission to spread Her messages, we utilize the latest and most advanced technologies to more fully propagate Our Lady’s plans. St. Maxmillian Kolbe who, before WWII, started Mary Town and had printing presses, etc., to spread his mission for Our Lady spoke about the importance of utilizing the technologies of the world to spread God’s Kingdom. This is very much a part of the philosophy of Caritas. However, we are diligent not to allow technologies to control or dominate our lives—rather we control technology to advance Our Lady’s mission, without it disturbing the simplicity of our everyday life of the community.
