Day 3 of Our Lady’s apparitions to Marija on Apparition Mountain

Our Lady appeared to Marija tonight on Apparition Mountain for Day 3 of the Novena for the 45th Anniversary. The apparition lasted almost 4 minutes. The following is Marija’s description of the apparition.
At the moment of the apparition, when Our Lady arrived, I entrusted all our intentions—including those held in our hearts—to Her. I entrusted all the people who are in our thoughts and hearts, including those unable to be here with us this evening.
Our Lady extended Her hands over us and prayed over us in Her own Motherly language, Aramaic.
Our Lady gave us another task:
To pray for all the deceased, for our entire lineage and all our descendants, so that our Lord might protect them from all evils and from all the sins they have committed, and so that they may ascend from Purgatory to Heaven and be united with Him.
In this way, She asked us to pray for all souls and to do penance for all souls, especially for those in purgatory.
Afterwards, She blessed us with the sign of the Cross and returned to Heaven.

A day of prayer without ceasing…
A day of thanking God for the gift of our lives and everything He gives us…
And now, a day to pray and do penance for all the souls in purgatory from our family tree…
Is it possible that Our Lady, through Her daily homework assignments to us, is creating a novena that we are to pray also in the future, showing us what is important and how to prioritize the things important to God?
About today’s message, and Our Lady asking not only for prayers for the souls in purgatory, but also our lineage, Our Lady once gave another message, on March 25, 1997:
I took this message to heart and often spoke about this message, and the “sins of your parents.” Many did not want to speak about those kinds of things.
About 16-17 years ago, I was out of town. For Sunday Mass I went to a small mission church. There was a visiting priest and only 15-20 people in the church. The first readings of the Sunday mentioned about being cursed to the third and fourth generations. That part of the text was bracketed, so it was “optional” to read that part. The woman doing the readings, skipped the brackets about being cursed to the third and fourth generation.
When the priest stood up to start his homily, I raised my hand and the priest pointed to me. I said, “Father, can you please preach on what that woman skipped in the first reading?” The priests face lit up and he said, “That’s what I was going to preach on!”
The priest told me after Mass, that he started having doubts about whether he should preach on that topic when he heard the lector skip it. But, when I stood up, he knew God wanted him to preach on generational sins.
Tonight, Our Lady reminds us of this. We continue to obey Our Lady and pray for what She asks of us. She knows best, from the viewpoint of Heaven, what we should be praying for.

I was sitting on my front porch at 5:00 PM, where I have a Blessed Mother Statue, during day 3 apparition. The wind was blowing hard, my dog was even antsy. I said to my dog, don’t worry Virgil, Mother Mary is in the wind, we have nothing to fear. I remarked to myself, Mary, are you in the wind tonight? So you can imagine my amazement when I read your post about the apparition. A candy kiss from heaven!

Thank Jesus for his great suffering for our salvation. We thank the Father,Son and Holy Spirit for all blessings.

Be united with Mother Mary that purgatory be empty and all souls be in heaven. Every day we will praise and thank Jesus and Mary. We pray for holiness and the healing of the earth!

Is there a particular novena or set of prayers for praying for the Poor Souls in Purgatory?
Gloria, there are many versions of prayers and novenas for the souls in purgatory. And while they are all very good, a Friend of Medjugorje always references back to Our Lady’s words. He tells us that Our Lady’s messages are the direction for our times:
July 21, 1982, Concerning Purgatory:
“There are many souls in Purgatory. There are also persons who have been consecrated to God – some priests, some religious. Pray for their intentions, at least The Lord’s Prayer, the Hail Mary, and the Glory Be seven times each, and the Creed. I recommend it to you. There is a large number of souls who have been in Purgatory for a long time because no one prays for them.”
Also November 6, 1986:
“Dear children, today I wish to call you to pray daily for the souls in purgatory. For every soul prayer and grace is necessary to reach God and the love of God. By doing this, dear children, you obtain new intercessors who will help you in life to realize that all the earthly things are not important for you, that only Heaven is that for which it is necessary to strive. Therefore, dear children, pray without ceasing that you may be able to help yourselves and the others to whom your prayers will bring joy. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
And January 10, 1983:
Regarding Purgatory: “In Purgatory there are different levels; the lowest is close to hell and the highest gradually draws near to Heaven. It is not on All Souls Day, but at Christmas, that the greatest number of souls leave Purgatory. There are in Purgatory, souls who pray ardently to God, but for whom no relative or friend prays on earth. God makes them benefit from the prayers of other people. It happens that God permits them to manifest themselves in different ways, close to their relatives on earth, in order to remind men of the existence of Purgatory and to solicit their prayers to come close to God who is just, but good. The majority of people go to Purgatory. Many go to hell. A small number go directly to Heaven.”

As with our ancestors in Mostarska Vrata and throughout Croatia, Hercegovina we in unison pray for our dear homeland, our grandfathers, grandmothers, dearly departed fathers… in a special way we place our whole family at the foot of Jesus’ cross, through Our Lady tonight and always in thanksgiving for her love, the love of Her Son and the Mercy of our Holy, Almighty, Immortal God. Yes, generational sins are seldom talked about but are a reality. So glad our Lady is reminding us to address these sins. Thank you Caritas!
