As we enter fall and head toward an uncertain winter, the perils of life and uncertainty of what “the winter of life” brings, mandates that we purify ourselves, protect ourselves through prayer and fasting in order to be in peace. The 2011 9-day Medjugorje fasting novena follows. It is your firewood for this winter to keep your soul in the warmth of God. The fast is your house which will keep you secure this winter. We cannot express to you enough how important your participation in this fast is for your and the world’s well being.
For the 9-day fasting novena you will be assigned a single day of 2011 in which your fast will be offered to bind satan from his activity for the Nation and the world. You can call Caritas of Birmingham to receive the day your fast will sponsor. Your day is assigned in the order you call us. You may call 205-672-2000 to be given the day of 2011 that your 9-day fasting novena, beginning October 25, 2010, and finishing November 2, 2010, will cover. It is important you receive a day so that we can be sure all 365 days of 2011 will be covered by an individual with a 9-day fast. Again the 9-day fasting novena is October 25-November 2, 2010, and your assigned day for 2011 is not a fast day, rather the day that you are assigned in 2011 to be covered in prayer by your October 25–November 2, 2010, 9-day fast.

PRAYER FOR THE FASTING NOVENA
O Queen of Heaven, we unite ourselves with others across the land in a holy fast, reminiscent of the so many times ancient Israel cried out in repentance to their God. By their history, we know God the Most High will hear our cry. We humble ourselves because of our sins. Seek, Mary our Queen, on our behalf, that the Lord not look upon our sins, but the love we show Him through this fast. Persuade Him to not only forgive but also forget and blot out our sins, that through Your hands we will grow close to Him and know Him intimately as a Father, as our Protector.
O Mary, these days of fasting we wish to empty our hearts of everything useless. Cleanse us. Let this fast purify us and atone for everything that has defiled us. O Mary, Queen of Peace, let our hearts be refilled through Your hands with whatever graces are necessary to reconcile us, our families, and our nation back to God. We wish also to atone for any wrongs in advance for each day of the coming year 2011, so that all be consecrated to Your Immaculate Heart, to purify the body of believers in order for the rebirth and the ushering in of a new springtime for Christianity in our beloved Nation.
We seek the healing of our hearts of all spiritual disease and illness and for You to fill our hearts especially during December 8th–12th. Please, please, dear Mother, please grant us these requests, and grant the three special intentions of the Community of Caritas as well as my own personal intentions of (name your personal intentions) along with the quick, successful conclusion of Retooling The Tabernacle of Our Lady’s Messages………I especially offer _________ ____, 2011 (Day assigned by Caritas)*, that on that day the plans of satan against ourselves, our family, and nation will be thwarted and grace will abound for conversion across our land.
We consecrate our hearts to You, Mary, and to Jesus. We want to give You and Jesus “title” of not only our souls but also our bodies, as well as all we possess. We know Your words of January 1, 2001, when You revealed that satan was completely unchained, were followed with what our response should be. It was to give ourselves to You and Jesus completely, as a possession into Your and His hands, through the formal daily act of consecration, thereby, owned by You and Your Son, we are afforded protection through being Your possession.

Thank you for this work.Now, we (Christians, specially catholics) should stay clear of the words “left” and “right” seen as a set of beliefs for an entire group of people. If I called “leftist” someone who is anti-religion or anti-God, for example, then when I reject his view as “leftist”, I also reject the idea of compassion the person may stand for as well. My message as a Christian becomes contradictory and my evangelization efforts ineffective. In fact I risk to become more of an obstacle to the spreading of faith, in that regard. That’s why we should always be extra careful in being respectful, and maybe, sometimes, keep an open mind. Our witnessing is not so much telling the world what to do, it is showing them who we are. And that is actually the work of the Holy Spirit. So I pray, I study, but I must pray again and humbly. In my prayer I must present those contradictions to God and ask for His light, humbly. I must avoid clinging to and making absolute any belief. Thank you.

Just two things that came to me when I was reading this article and looking at the picture of lightning – 1. I read somewhere that when “the pastor would be struck”, the sheep will be scattered. In this picture, the (pastor pope) the Vatican has been “struck” by lightning.2. While I was looking at the clock, it came to me that we really are are nearly at the “hour” – of what chastisement? – change ? – war?

Dear Friends of Medjugorje, thank you for the inspirational story which was well guided. The picture of the lightening reminds me of September 2012 when I went on a pilgramage to Ngome Tabenacle Of Our Lady Most High. I was in an Adortion Mass led by Father Wayne. I began to pray. I said, “Here I Am Lord, I’ve come a long way to meet You. Where are You?” I was sitting at the window. Next thing, the lightening flashed. I looked up at the sky and asked, “Was that You, Lord?” Before I knew it, the Holy Spirit was upon me. My hands began to raise uncontrollably. The most beautiful presence was upon me. I had so many beautiful experiences. God showed me that there are many wicked and evil people on the earth who will want His forgiveness but it will be too late. Fast and Pray now. I’ve experienced what it is like to be in His presence, Awesome. The striking of the Vatican was just to remind us that Yes, he is still around. Wonderful article. I was praying for my children one afternoon because my youngest child was really misbehaving. Shortly afterwards lightning struck our house and knocked four light bulbs out in our living room and our outdoor pool light but we were fine. We felt the electric shock in our fingertips and were left trembling. I was so grateful to God and realized that we were really protected.

This is a time for profound humility for everyone. Pride is rampant among the naysayers, who do not trust the Church’s teachings or leaders. Let us remember the sin of our first parents in Eden, when they chose to believe evil rather than God. Thy were struck with fear because of their sin. God does not bring fear but only peace through our Lady Queen of Peace. Take counsel only from those wise in the ways of Our Lady and your hearts will not be gripped with fear. Confusion and fear are tools of the devil to turn our eyes from the truth. Keep your eyes on Mary, and trust in our Church. Pray the rosary daily for this peace and Our Lady will always lead you to her Son, Jesus. “Let not our hearts be troubled.”

Thank you so much for this article, deep in my heart I feel something, and it is some thing that tell me that things are not good for the world, I can sense the spiritual battle we are fighting. I also think that the lightning at the Vatican is a sign, but most of people tell me I am crazy, even at some Catholic Programs tell us not to see it as a sign. I have tried to live my Catholic religion the best I can for the past 6 years, had a very strong conversion, this brought me so close to God and to our Blessed Mother and to Jesus. So, I thank you for this message, because, I was so confused, and have asked God for guidance, I can feel so many evil things in the world, and people see them as the best things for them, it scares me, but again, people think I am crazy. Our Lady “Gospa” changes the hour of her apparition: from 1-st of May to the Feast of The Holly Cross in September, she comes one hour earlier than in the rest of the year. You should know that. I am blown away by the profoundness of this writing. I was blessed to be on the Field with the community as Cardinal Ratzinger became Pope Benedict XVI, but I had forgotten many of the details of the day. I am so grateful for the archives at Caritas for reminding me. I watched the news waiting for His Holiness Benedict XVI to make his final public address with anxiety as I needed to leave for an appointment. I was aware of the time, but hadn’t realized it was Apparition time. I am amazed at how “A Friend of Medjugorje” pieces together all of the events and shows me what I am unable to see for myself. Thank you.

I cannot understand how the Pope and Previous Pope knew of the Priests that molested young children and did not remove them from the Priesthood and punish them instead of moving them to another Parish where they continued to do this to children over and over. These children were harmed for life.
I was emotional reading it and my heart full of gratitude to God for His unconditional love for the whole world and for the gift of our Saviour Jesus and our unfailing advocate, our Blessed Mother. We continue to pray for more divine grace and wisdom as nothing is impossible with God.

Just witnessed on TV when the pope said his goodbye at the window of his new place, it was 5:40pm Rome time. He was only on the balcony for 2 minutes and he said his goodbye at exactly 5:40pm! This was really interesting after learning that he started his pontificate at exactly 5:40 PM.
Now, I understand. It is beautiful that you said, ‘The Holy Father did not quit. He did not give up, no more than Jesus did when He often left the crowds to go to the mountains to pray by Himself. Benedict said: “With regard to myself, I wish to also devotedly serve the Holy Church of God in the future through a life dedicated to prayer.”Our beloved Pope, Benedict, will pray by himself for the Church, for the salvation of the world, just as the good LORD Jesus did as ‘He retired to the mountain to pray’. Like a good disciple, Pope Benedict the Beloved, is just doing what he sees the Master did.Thank you for a very insightful exposition. I have only recently started following Caritas, I plan on becoming a Field Angel in March, I am reading “They Fired the First Shot” now and have read “It Ain’t Gonna Happen”, and I have been listening to your CD’s that I received! Such insight in this writing, thank you. I have just witnessed history when Our Holiness left the Vatican for the last time as a Pope. It was with tears I witnessed such humility in the step he took and all I thought was “he did all for the Glory of God”! Thank you, Lord!!
