Ivan’s September 12, 2008 Prayer Group Apparition

Pilgrims in Medjugorje at apparition

Ivan, the visionary, seated with some members of his prayer group, moments before his prayer group was to begin.

This morning, both villagers and pilgrims alike woke up to cloudy skies and a little bit of rain, the first rain for at least two months. As the day progressed though, the cloudy sky turned into blue sky with lots of sunshine. As evening services drew near, the clouds began to accumulate again until the clouds covered up the blue sky. During the evening services at St. James Church, many of the pilgrims felt raindrops begin to fall sporadically as the clouds became heavier and darker, giving the feeling that all present could be in for a heavy rainstorm. Those pilgrims who began gathering at the Blue Cross by around 6:30 p.m. were waiting for the rain to begin to steadily fall upon them.

By around 7:30 p.m., there was a steady stream of pilgrims gathering at the Blue Cross. By 8:00 p.m., all the areas around the Blue Cross were crowded with pilgrims, and the outer areas continued to fill up as more and more pilgrims continued to arrive. At around 8:45 p.m., the moon peeked out brightly from the clouds, and as the time drew closer for Ivan’s apparition, the clearer the sky became, with more and more bright and shiny stars joining the moon. The prayer group began singing around 9:00 p.m. At 9:30 p.m., Ivan announced that we would begin to pray the Rosary in preparation for Our Lady’s coming. Ivan prayed the Sorrowful Mysteries. By the time of the apparition, there were thousands of pilgrims filling up every possible space around left to be as close as possible to the Mother of God. Our Lady appeared to Ivan around 10:00 p.m. The apparition lasted about 6 minutes. The following is Ivan’s description of the apparition:

Pilgrims in Medjugorje at apparition

This picture shows a steady stream of pilgrims leaving the Blue Cross after Ivan’s apparition tonight. There were literally thousands of pilgrims present from all over the world, praying to open up their hearts to recieve the love of Our Lady during Her apparition.

“Tonight, the most important from the meeting with Our Lady is that Our Lady came happy and joyful and at the beginning, as always, greeted us all with Her Motherly greeting: ‘Praised be Jesus, my dear children.’ Our Lady tonight prayed for a longer time with Her arms extended over all of you here, and especially She prayed over those of you present here who are sick. She then blessed us all with Her Motherly Blessing and She blessed everything that you brought for blessing. I recommended all of you, all of your needs, your intentions, your families and especially the sick. Then Our Lady, with Her arms extended, continued to pray over all of us here. I then prayed one Our Father and Glory Be with Her and Our Lady then left in an illuminated sign of the Cross, saying: ‘Go in peace my dear children.’”
