Our Lady of Medjugorje said on June 21, 1984:
“Each member of the group is like a flower; and if someone tries to crush you, you will grow and will try to grow even more. If someone crushes you a little, you will recover. And if someone pulls a petal, continue to grow as though you were complete…”
Trials are a part of life. How one deals with trials determines whether one is overcome by them.
Medjugorje, June 21, 2019 – Flowers grow out of the path on Apparition Mountain in Medjugorje. A very unlikely place for flowers to grow, prone to being trampled on by the thousands who climb this mountain every day. Yet, these flowers grow, despite the hard ground, the rocks and adding a beauty to the rocky path.
Trials are a part of life. No one escapes them. How one deals with trials determines whether one is overcome by them. A Friend of Medjugorje writes:
You are always going to be faced with troubles, and our future world promises to be filled with reasons to be anxious, fearful and troubled. But Our Lady strongly encourages us to surrender everything to Her, and in this way we will find peace, even in the midst of terror and uncertainty. However, for us to achieve this, we must do as She has asked.
May 25, 1988
“…I am calling you to a complete surrender to God. Pray, little children, that satan does not sway you like branches in the wind. Be strong in God…Neither be anxious or worried. God will help you and show you the way…Little children, you are mine. I love you and I want you to surrender to me so I can lead you to God. Pray without ceasing so that satan cannot take advantage of you. Pray so that you realize that you are mine…”
You must realize that satan wants to take advantage of you, especially in those times when you are anxious or worried. He preys upon your fear, wanting to lead you towards despair and hopelessness. To counter satan’s schemes, Our Lady says to “…Pray without ceasing… Pray so that you realize that you are mine…” If you know, with all certainty, that you belong to Our Lady, then satan cannot succeed in his aims to separate you from Her, and if you know Our Lady is with you, you are in peace.

from Surrender Your Problems to Me
This mission of Caritas has undergone many trials through the past 32 years, some of which we were not sure how we would survive another day, yet, a Friend of Medjugorje lives by this principle of surrender. In Our Lady’s message that we began with above, She does not promise an easy path. She tells us plainly:
June 21, 1984
“If someone crushes you a little, you will recover…”
And She says:
“…if someone pulls a petal, continue to grow as though you were complete…”
In other words, someone will try to crush you, someone will pull a petal. Once you give your life to Our Lady, you work for the Queen of Heaven. Be successful at prayer and surrender. The rest is in God’s hands. That is how trials are overcome.
