On day 6 of the worldwide fast, the miracles continue…
October 12, 2015 A.D.
Our Lady of Medjugorje said on September 25, 1993:
“…Therefore, little children, do not seek comfort in material things; rather, seek God… I am looking for your prayers, that you accept me and accept my messages… only then, when you open your hearts and pray, will miracles happen…”
By giving up the material comfort of food during this 9-day bread and water fast, we are hearing from many who are experiencing the gift of God’s miracles. These are a few who have written to us after a Friend of Medjugorje latest update, Day 3 of the Fast – Signs from God:
“On the third night my body reacted to the fast. Pains in the veins both legs, in the upper thighs and lower back, no sleep at all that night but by evening on the fourth day, no pain. Gone completely. I was concerned I’d have to cease fasting but it’s like I’ve passed through something like the ‘wall’ that marathon runners have referred to. I am not stopping now.”

“It is wonderful to be part of a community, all living through the 9 day fast. I also felt unwell, had terrible headaches for the first two days, almost passed out at Mass on Thursday evening, praying to Our Lady and Jesus not to let me faint… Through God’s grace, I KNOW that He has granted me the wellbeing to continue and I can’t believe how well I have felt since Friday..no headaches and not at all hungry. Amazing! Keep going, it is Our Father’s will.”
Anne, U.K.
“Feeling sore (body aches) and a little light-headed but not hungry and feel fully sustained by Our Lord and Our Lady. Cravings, longings and temptations have not descended upon me en force as I anticipated – I am so grateful and am so very happy for the opportunity of this fast! We are so blessed and I’m so very honored to be connected to all of you through this fast and our Blessed Mother. God’s peace to you all. With much love and aloha from Hawaii.”

These are just a few of the stories we are hearing from people across the world who are all connected to each other and with us, participating in this 9-day bread and water fast. Now, at day 6, many are beginning to feel the overwhelming joy of being dependent on God’s grace to sustain them. A Friend of Medjugorje wrote:
“How is it we are so privileged to be given such a profoundly wonderful gift. Fasting, if viewed as a burden, will gain you nothing. It is a gift to be allowed to do it, a gift given by our good God who then responds to it by answering our prayers.”

I thank God Almighty and Our Blessed Mother for this gift of fasting. Working at a coffee house, I did not think I would not be able to make it through. I did not crave and only smelled the coffee twice. I also experienced great pain on my upper thighs and knees like I’ve never had before for 4 days. Also, I experience sore throat and flu like symptoms for about 3 days. The 9th day and couple of days after I left a lot of energy and very happy that with everyones prayers I was able to complete the fasting. Looking forward for next year. God Bless you all.
Our family prayed to experience a joy-filled fast this year and God has granted this prayer beautifully. Another gift from Heaven this time is the spontaneous sharing of bread between our family and three others who are also fasting. Day four was a particularly graced day for this sharing. Deo Gratias!
