What Happened on November 26, 1988
The apparition was in the Bedroom. When Our Lady came She again was very happy and joyful. With Her hands extended, She prayed over everyone and blessed them. Marija recommended all those present, especially the sick, to Our Lady and She prayed The Lord’s Prayer and the Glory Be. Our Lady’s message:
Beginning on this day, Our Lady often said during the 2 ½ months of Marija’s stay, to pray for Her intentions. This is a beautiful prayer that has been established into the fabric of the prayer life of the community. It is, in fact, the perfect prayer because by praying for Our Lady’s intentions we know we are praying for the best possible answer to our needs. For our founder, believing more and more that Our Lady wanted something initiated here but not knowing exactly what at the time, it was a comfort knowing that he could pray for Our Lady’s intentions and not have to know exactly what he was praying for.
There is something quite remarkable about these two pictures of the same Crucifix—hanging above in the rectory of Fr. Slavko’s office, and below in a home in Alabama in the Bedroom of our founder and his wife. The explanation is written in the words of our founder:
This roll of film was taken partly in Medjugorje on August 21, 1988. It shows Fr. Slavko cleaning out his room of “apparitions”, his bedroom. He talked of all the history and apparitions that took place in the room. It was a sad moment. I happened to be passing by at 9:00 at night when I noticed him and asked if he needed help. We cleaned everything out. When it came to the only thing left, the Crucifix which the children stared at for the apparitions for over a year, he took it down and asked if I wanted it. I thought he must be crazy. Our Lady has blessed this hundreds of times. I remember seeing Fr. Slavko’s secretary and thinking she deserves this more, so I declined, but Fr. Slavko insisted I take it and I gratefully accepted it. The next morning I was to go back to the United States and went to Marija and asked her to pray over the Crucifix that it would be a great instrument of conversion for our country. I then realized what a holy and special crucifix it was by the way Marija lovingly kissed it. Now the reason for explaining this is most remarkable because this role of film and camera was mysteriously lost until November. When Marija came to the United States the camera turned up and I finished the roll of film, forgetting what had already been taken, where Marija was receiving Our Lady which was in our bedroom. When the film was developed I was stunned to see the Crucifix hanging in Medjugorje and in the bedroom on the same role of film. I realized it was one more thing that paved the way for Our Lady to come.
