The Croatian War of Independence, which was declared on June 25, 1991, stopped pilgrimages to Medjugorje for the years 1992, 1993 and part of 1994. However, though pilgrimages were not brought to Medjugorje, a Friend of Medjugorje was responsible for bringing millions of dollars of medial aid to the region during the war effort, in a project called PRM.
