A Special Invitation to Climb the Cross at Caritas on Good Friday

April 12, 2017 A.D.

Our Lady said on March 2, 2013:
 

“…Along with your prayers and fasting, by His Cross, my Son will cast away the darkness that wants to surround you and come to rule over you. He will give you the strength for a new life…”

We know the world needs the Cross of Jesus more than ever before. Our Lady said above that it will be “by His Cross” that darkness will be cast away—and strength will be given for a new life. With this in mind, all are invited to come to Caritas of Birmingham and join the Community as they pray the Stations and climb to the Cross on Penitentiary Mountain April 14, 2017, Good Friday. Visiting this Cross that was dedicated and consecrated to Our Lady for the Soul of America and that was then blessed by Her in 2013 and 2014 in apparitions to Medjugorje visionary, Marija, is a deeply moving and grace-filled experience.

We will be leaving from the Field of Apparitions at 1:30 PM to begin the ascent up the mountain. We will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet and begin the Divine Mercy Novena before the Cross at 3:00 PM, the time of Our Lord’s death and the Hour of Mercy.

A plenary indulgence can be gained on Good Friday when you pray the Stations of the Cross, as well as participate in adoration of the Cross. After climbing to the Cross, everyone will have the added grace of being able to pray in the presence of a relic of the True Cross of Christ at the foot of the Cross and to bless themselves with it. To receive the full benefit of the indulgence, it is recommended that one receives the Sacrament of Reconciliation shortly before or after Easter.

Come early on Friday and pray the Rosary with the Community at 11:00 AM in the Field. We will be on our knees in prayer in the Field at the same time that Our Lady is blessing the world from Medjugorje (6:40 PM Medjugorje time; 11:40 AM CST in the Field.)

11:00 A.M. Apparition Rosary in the Field

1:30 P.M. Leave from the Field to begin the Stations of the Cross and begin the climb to the Cross

3:00 P.M. Divine Mercy Chaplet and begin the Novena to Divine Mercy
Adoration of the Cross with a relic of the True Cross of Christ

If you are not able to be with the Community this Good Friday, consider making a pilgrimage to Caritas during this special Jubilee Year of Fatima. Recognizing the continued unfolding of grace that began last year with the Year of Mercy, a Friend of Medjugorje and his wife have been moved to open the Bedroom of Apparitions once again during this Anniversary Year of Fatima, 2017, beginning this month of April and ending in October. Special dates of pilgrimage have been selected to give everyone the opportunity to pray in the Bedroom of Apparitions, starting April 21-22, 2017.
