Friend of Medjugorje
BVM Caritas Medjugorje Pilgrimages is the longest-running pilgrimage from North and South America, and very likely in the whole world. In fact, a Friend of Medjugorje was a pilgrim on the first chartered flight to Medjugorje from North America. That was 1986. That first charter flight was put together by the Fatima Blue Army and actually used the Blue Army airplane. At that time, it was very difficult to travel to Communist controlled Medjugorje, and large pilgrim groups were simply not going to Yugoslavia. When he returned home, many people assailed a Friend of Medjugorje with requests that he take them to Medjugorje. He then created BVM Pilgrimages (Blessed Virgin Mary) and played a primary role in establishing the infrastructure for traveling to Medjugorje from the North American Continent. A professor of Anthropology at the University of Alabama, Michael Murphy, stated:
“As one of the first Medjugorje promoting groups formed in the United States, Caritas helped link Medjugorje and the United States…Caritas was instrumental in providing the infrastructure for pilgrimages to Medjugorje from the U.S.”
In those beginning years, a Friend of Medjugorje captured the essence and simplicity of the early days of Medjugorje. He has never swayed from these foundational aspects of a pilgrimage to Medjugorje in more than 30 years of taking pilgrims there, never fallen to the pressure to include other “sites” as part of the pilgrimage that distract from the organic Medjugorje he experienced and had imprinted in his heart. That is why pilgrims consistently state that BVM Caritas Medjugorje Pilgrimages leads the #1 pilgrimage in the world and is the only way to go to Medjugorje. As BVM Caritas Medjugorje Pilgrimages continues to grow in reputation, pilgrims from countries outside of the United States are actually signing up for our pilgrimage.

We place it here so that you will more fully appreciate the changes made in the new Mej v3.0. The new BVM Caritas Medjugorje Pilgrimages home page is restructured to make navigation faster, simpler and more seamless. After combing through every page, new pictures and updated information have been added. As with the main Medjugorje.com site, the pilgrimage site also now features a responsive design so it will be easier to read on phones, tablets, or other mobile devices. As always, a live BVM Caritas Medjugorje Pilgrimage expert is just a phone call away to assist you in any way or answer any of your questions.
As of August 2017, Our Lady’s Medjugorje apparitions are now ongoing for 36 years and counting. A Friend of Medjugorje has believed for many years that Our Lady will be with us daily for 40 years – the time to help mankind through the desert into the Promised Land. The year 2021 will be the 40th year of the apparitions in Medjugorje – that’s just four years from now (August 2017). The signs of the times are all around us. Medjugorje visionary, Mirjana, recently stated in her new book, My Heart Will Triumph:

Our Lady said on August 25, 1997:

A woman named Katherine from California went on the July 2017 Pilgrimage to Medjugorje. This is what she had to say of her full experience with BVM Caritas Medjugorje Pilgrimages:

While I had read the messages on and off for many years, it wasn’t until our BVM Caritas guide, who stressed the importance of reading the messages daily, that I began faithfully reading and meditating on those messages. What I enjoyed most from the actual pilgrimage was the encouragement given to all pilgrims by the BVM Caritas guide and the spiritual talks given to us by our BVM Caritas guide about the importance of following our Blessed Mother’s plan (prayer, fasting, reading the Bible, praying the Rosary, daily Mass). Those talks really encouraged me to ‘live’ Our Lady’s messages.
“However, the very special gifts that were given to all BVM Caritas pilgrims were attendance at the three Marian apparitions with Mirjana on August 2nd, Marija, and Ivan on Our Lady’s birthday, August 5th. It was such a great honor to be present during these apparitions and I appreciated these apparitions and I appreciated these very special opportunities so much!

“Our accommodations at the Hotel Palace were first class, along with the delicious meals! In fact, I mentioned to a few people that the chef could write a cookbook that would include many of her outstanding recipes. I would definitely purchase a few to give as gifts! My nieces, who are usually picky eaters, loved the meals and wanted their mother to duplicate those meals when they returned home.
“Thank you for making this pilgrimage to be physically present to Our Lady, Queen of Peace so memorable! Thank you for the backpacks, the free books, the travel arrangements, and above all, for your prayers! I appreciate everything that your beautiful community did to make my pilgrimage and that of my family’s pilgrimage, so memorable! This was a trip of a lifetime and we are already talking about returning to Medjugorje again with you!

Given the magnitude of all the improvements and additions to the new Medjugorje.com, we have tested everything in as many possible environments as we can. However, we know that sometimes certain things may temporarily not work for some users. Surely, the F-22 Raptor Fighter Jet we wrote about in the first day’s launch, Cleared for Takeoff, had many test flights before becoming proficient in the air.
